I'm a bit rusty on my AMD products - need to replace an AM3 motherboard.

Currently it has a Phenom II Black Edition 3.2Ghz chip in it, and I see the only currently available boards have socket "AM3+" rather than AM3.

Would this fit everything (processor) correctly?

TIA

Yep, it'll work so long as you have DDR3 memory. I recommend the ASUS M5A97 R2.0, although a cheaper M5A78L-M LX would also work just as well.

ek het die MSI 970A-G46, en ek overclock goed op dit, en dit het sli/x-fire...en als loop mooi...

dont the VRM's on the board fails , i blew mine in 2 hours with fx 8 core chip :p

I could rma the chip , but takealot did not want to take the board back , said i broke it.

Ouch! I remember there were a few complaints about the original GD65 boards. Sadly MSI's not doing much for their AM3+ lineup these days, all the innovation is happening in Ivy Bridge and Haswell these days.

I was looking at going for the MSI 990FXA-GD65

Dropping R1400-odd on a board that doesn't even have front-panel USB 3.0 ports is a bit excessive these days. I would recommend the M5A970 Evo R2.0 here if you're willing to go that high, its the better board. The 990FXA-GD65 is only an option if you need to run dual GPUs and don't mind sticking with only two USB 3.0 ports in the back.
