AMD vs Intel

just be happy that AMD is giving some competition.
we don't want another Telkom situation now do we? :)

We already have and the amount of people buying from this massive overweight copycat firm called intel is not really helping the situation.

intel makes a mircro devices.
AMD on the other hand, well the name says it all...

Both are the same to me, I buy the one that gives me better bang for my buck and lately Intel has been doing that.

Only if you're overclocking. If you're staying stock there's no reason not to go AMD. They have great bang for buck.

100% correct

Not really.

Nice one.

In case anyone doesn't know.

“Intel is constantly trying to leapfrog AMD by shrinking the die size. This is largely a marketing ploy and actually results in little improvement in end user experience.” says Mosaheb.
How is greater speed, reduced voltage (and thus power requirements), possible by the greater component density, reduced track lengths with correspondingly reduced capacitative effects, mainly a marketing ploy?

As with most things I live one of the biggest factors for me when buying into a brand is history and heritage.

AMD has a much more glorious and honourable history than intel. Just look at the amount of innovation AMD has produced for the x86 world.... and intel then copies it.

Seriously, look at the history of a brand for a change, you might get new found respect for it.
Did you know Nokia started as a paper mill back in the 1800s?
Did you know Adam Opel dreamt about making the best sowing machines in the 1800s?
Did you know intel is only 1 year older than AMD (1968 vs 1969)?
Did you know AMD came to intels aid with the production of 8088 and 8086 chips IBMs PC ?

Did you know intel offer the fastest cpu's at good prices in both quad and dual core?
Did you know AMD owned intel with Athlon
Did you know that buying a brand is silly
Did you know people should buy the best product because Intel or AMD don't care about you as much as some fanboi's care about them.

I am not talking about I7, those are of course the fastest cpu's but price leaves alot to desired.

Core 2 i am talking about, nobody can deny core 2 has basically kicked and smashed amd's face in :p, only the fanboi's kept the company going, so go fanboi's keep the pricing low :).

For every amd cpu there is better core cpu that is at the moment cheaper or the same price, amd pulls through because their mobo offer alot for the price.

Of course, you get the flavour of the week and then there is the all time favorite. It is the difference between a user and a fan, a buyer and a supporter, a could-not-care-less and a has-true-passion attitude.

Some people do buy into a brand, others are just your run of the mill minute-wh0r3s that buys what the Jones has.

I have alot of passion for performance, i don't give a flying F%^& who offers the performance, all i know is i am passionate about not buying inferior or slower products.

Lol roux your logic bemuses me man, we buy the best product.

Lets see amd's current cpu's:

Overclock poorly.
quadcores had a major flaw, they fixed it.
quadcores alot slower than intel quadcores, infact intel lowest quaddie the q6600 overclocked to 3.2ghz beats amd's flagship 9950BE
Amd's dual core's get raped by intel dual core's.
Intel's cpu at the moment can achieve anywhere from a 40%-100% overclock, amd your lucky to see 15% on an overclock.

Does not take rocket science to understand if you have the choice that buying the best electronic equipment is the way to go.
Why are you passionate about cpu maker lol, strange man.

/moves slowly away from roux before he commits murder in the name of AMD :p

Now if AMD bring out a better product in Jan i will buy because it will be a better product and not because i am passionate about a cpu maker.

I wonder if you get AMD porn for the passionate people to enjoy themselves :p

What did intel copy from AMD for core 2?

Easy - their first dual core was not a dual core but a dual CPU on one socket. AMD did the true duel core from the start.

I can name a lot of places where they copied AMD and in some they failed spectacularly.

Ya, Name them and prove that My intel is crap and copied from AMD?

You will find that I have a very strong belive in some things based on history and track records. Not minute to minute power battles and performance only benchmarks.

Intel has commited a lot of evil and they cannot not be forgiven for that.

Its like Audi VS Mercedes. I know Audi gives better performance, but I am not after performance - there is such a thing as heritage and class and some people like those to match up with their own.

And another things, logic ? I do not need logic, dammit people when are you going to fet it - whatever I say is the law. Right is what I say is right and wrong is what I say is wrong. Check the x-ray of my back, you will find that it contains a spine - thats cause I have a spine and I take stands when it pleases me. The world is short in biggots and I am the sollution.

Errm actually it would be like passing up the Audi for a fiesta 1.6l :p

Well i'm glad their are passionate people who are passionate about non performance :)

Guys, you are fighting for the wrong reasons, If AMD brings a CPU forth that maybe give Intel a run for there money, then I say go ahead. We need the competition to keep the prices down. :D
