AMD's clean sweep victory

who cares? as long as Intel and AMD are at each other's throats we CONSUMERS get great prices and deals. :p

if its me you are referring, NO. I own an AMD and have so for over 4 years now.

but everybody knows that competition brings us, GAMERS the best prices.

I agree the best bit is consumers.

Now if only someone would hurry up and write games that could use dual cores!

yeah, it uses a multi threaded enigine. sounds awesome and if you have seen the engine in action you will cream urself. I DID!

also check out "Gears of War" for xbox 360. looks amazing and runs on the Unreal3 engine, just like UT2007

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion is also supposedly going to support dual-core although as eye-suc said, the first definite one is UT 2007.

i have had both, and i prefer intel! On a intel pc you can be compressing files, playing music, playing a game, and becuase u are at a lan getting copied from and the machine doesnt grind, with a amd it grinds!

I like the fact that amd's are a little cheaper but they are getting more and more expensive. So... it will take me alot of persuation to get a amd again

the reason your amd system grinded down to a halt while leeching would be because your have a crap NIC!!! hehehe

crap NIC's offload the workload to the CPU and causes some nasty effects. if the NIC is crap it also doesnt perform up to its true performance. e.g. a crappy lil rtl (realtek) onboard 1GBS NIC would prolly never reach 50% of its indicated speed, while a nice little Marvel Yukon NIC (as found on a decent MSI of ASUS board) will attain up to 80% of true 1GBS, assuming ur mobo has a decent pipe (PCIE bus). nforce4 should be fine

dont blame a CPU for being bad when the real culprit was a bad mobo with a bad NIC :P if u experience these probs simply get yourself a good (i mean R300+) add on NIC. it REALLY helps.

as for AMD vs Intel? erm, i have a brain, therefore i choose the right one :D

Well with his intel machine he doesnt need a R300+ nic to enjoy gaming while other people are leeching his stuff. To each his own, both processors have there advantages, wait till next years intel chips are out.

i think this should be stickied ans renamed INTEL gets killed.
I dont see how intel fans could bring any light out of this

Maybe he had a crap mobo with the AMD and a decent one with the INTEL

now thats the logic i'm talking about ;)

maybe they will blame the 3D hardware for not accelerating the office apps? :p

Are you comparing a 3.2 extreme with a K6 by any chance?

" I like the fact that amd's are a little cheaper but they are getting more and more expensive. So... it will take me alot of persuation to get a amd again "

Well taking in the fact that in the past Socket A motherboards can take old and new CPUs ie a first generation 600 CPU will fit on the latest motherboard... How many times have Intel changed their format over the years, Socket 370, Slot 1, Socket 478 and so on. When a motherboard packs in you cannot get a replacement, the service centre just bleats.... No, no that's obsolete - A problem you do not get with AMD

But that's in the past, However you might want to take note that if you buy a AMD socket 939 you can up-grade the CPU to dual core later, something you cannot do with Intel.... But there again that's never going to stop some people buying something that carries the warning (like on cigarette packets) Intel inside

If I have to hear that stupid tink tonk tink Intel processor tune that they play in ads so they can get a rebate - I am going to scream out loud and damage something

LOL - I just had a look at the tests, Intel beaten on every front, and bear in mind that Intel are now the Power sucking overheating monsters
