American Sniper thoughts?

A court has already found against him for liable when he wrote in his book that he punched out Jessie Ventura. He also lied about killing two would be hijackers at a petrol station and about shooting looters in New Orleans after Katrina.

I didnt know about New Orleans.

The one thing I have a problem with is that the man is not alive to defend himself. And lets be honest, the media is'nt an acurate source of conveying the truth.
So the truth is we will never know.

Agree that media outlets can bend the truth, however the burden for proving liable in an American court is very high, you have to prove an untruth and prove that the person profited from it. The court found that Chris Kyle did both.

Not to sure how you are reading into the part of a real hero, he was a hero to his former colleagues, he saved there lives for serving there country.

Am suggesting that a two hour movie directed by a well known Republican that is also pro-war might not be the best place to get a balanced picture of the man. He may have been a hero but he was also deeply flawed.

Defend himself from what? These lies emanate from his own words, not something someone made up about him. And his homicidal fantasies are also from his own words.

Just remember the movie was BASED ON TRUE EVENTS and the few interviews I saw it was already stated that it was not a documentary but was made to be more inline with the Movie industry otherwise nobody would go see the movie.

I am more concerned if I will waste my time seeing the movie, I am not to interested how they tried to portray the person.
Obviously we have two camps on the person itself.

Just remember on which side you are on because One's terrorist is another's Freedom fighter.

As far as I am concerned 80% of people don't WANT to be in a war situation but being part of the army you don't have a choice to go and do your duty.

But I did not esquire about the person or the wrongs and rights of the USA.
I am just curious if it is a good movie or not.

He was a Navy Seal, they are very different to the average soldier in terms of training and intent. If you read the book there was a lot of rivalry between the seal-teams about getting onto the front lines. They spend a huge amount training and for them serving on the front lines is a validation of their abilities and their value as SEALs. His team mates where often quite envious about the amount of action he was involved in.

I apologize I just used the ARMY as a general term.

No need to apologise, the point of my post was not about the branch of the armed services, just that Navy Seals (like Green Berets or Delta) are Elite special forces operators, they are very different to your average enlistee.

Oh please, that movie was no more "Fsck yeah Murica!" or propaganda than any other war movie. In fact this one focussed a lot on him so if anything it is "look how awesome I am" film.

It is good entertainment but it'll be just as great watching from your couch.

It's pissing off the right people so it must be good!

You should watch it only for Bradley Coopers physical transformation to portray Kyle complete lopsided lip and southern drawl.

For the rest its jingoistic flag waving including the proverbial long suffering wife waiting anxiously for her American hero to return.
Chris is portrayed as the man who protected other marines from harm.

Just watch for the technical aspects.
