American Sniper thoughts?

Sad how predictable it is that you would idolise a murder-fantasist, marine.

Well it was just as predictable that you (and others) wouldn't like the movie/Kyle.

Same ol' same ol' here at MyBB.

wonder how many lives he saved with those he took out ;)

If you had to be one of his brothers in arms in Iraq, you would have wanted Kyle right there. Easy to judge from the safety of your domestic den OD

Perhaps. Much rather come down on this side of the fence, though.

Considering the guy a good soldier is one thing, but a hero...?

"Hero" is very subjective. He is nothing but a guy that had awesome skills as a sniper.

The Second World War was a real "war". The American occupation of Iraq was not a war, it was an invasion, occupation and cynical money making racket. Chris Kyle was a disgusting human being who took great pleasure in killing many innocent people because they were not like him. In normal society we call a person like that a serial killer.

Seen from the nazi point of view, WWII was an invasion of German territory... So your argument doesn't stand.

He's certainly a hero to the people who's lives he saved and protected as well as they're families and friends. So, he told some lies and the good he did is negated?

People are making him the scapegoat for an inaccurate movie about a war they didn't like.

The love this man got from America just shows what a true hero he was to many Americans. They closed highways for this man's funeral. The amount of IED's they prevented from being planted saved 100's of American people as well as locals. He had a job to do and did it pretty damn good. Unfortunately his death idolized him in American history. Every good story needs a sad ending.

If he wasn't killed the way he was, there would have been no movie.

Which I get.

The problem I have is with his narrative in a sense being regarded (perhaps not his fault) as an overall authentic narrative of the war. And I don't mean just the movie (which did a bad job of giving any kind of context of the man or the war), but his story itself.

Really?

Those are the options I have? Glorify and idolise Kyle or be a supporter of terrorists? A tad pathetic.
