Amobia packet loss

Hi,

I have been battling with Amobia to find out what happened after 4 months of perfect internet Gaming,

This last 2 months I have 60-100% packet loss in games. local and international in different games.

Dont know if the Antenna got damaged, but Amobia came out and tested and told me everything is fine.

I'm out of ideas what to do because i cant get ADSL (stolen Lines) or any other WISP in Elardus Park, Pretoria.

Anyone have some ideas for me?

Usually Amobia are quite helpful,

if you ping a local and an international IP do you get high latency and packet loss?

maybe ping www.amobia.co.za and say www.cisco.com

maybe also try a trace route. your second hop should be one of the Amobia IP's then ping it for an extended period and see what the packet loss looks like.

have you checked the graphs available on the amobia portal?

I have tested all the above things mentioned month ago and sent it to them, looked at everything i could look at, compared trace results with adsl users ect.

Yes, packet loss of 0-480%. In Secondlife, my avatar simply remains a cloud forever. That cloud status usually would stop and the avatar would appear within 1-10 seconds, on a normal/wired uncapped account. Another issue is that the surroundings take forever to appear, which usually would appear and be textured, within 1-5 minutes, depending on line speed and the amount of objects and avatars in a region/sim.

I also game in WarInc. The problem there is that it also seems like data flow is severely restricted. I keep getting kicked off the game server, with messages stating that my ping is too high. Even before I get kicked off, the packet loss is so extreme, that I see others walk or run a few meters, then freeze for about half a minute, then they are suddenly further away and moving for a few seconds again before freezing again. This constant freeze/moved a distance instantly/freeze again etc. seems like massive packet loss also. The sound also seems to break up in tiny fractions as if jittering very badly.

I have checked the MyBroadband forums about gaming on Amobia and people mention having talked to support at Amobia and the support staff having set priorities/opened certain ports, which then fixed their issues and they could game without problems.

I lodged a support ticket and they contacted me the next morning, today to get the problem sorted out. I was not near my pc earlier when the technician phoned, so I asked him to call me in 5 minutes, but the cellphone never rang and just registered two missed calls from him, a few minutes later, so either the cellphone service is messing around or he is having problems contacting me again.

I'll post here again if it's sorted out. If it can't be sorted out, then the problem could be larger as you suspect.

i play battlefield 3 competitively and i missed 4 premiere division matches , but yea local runs finish now, ALL my international games i play have packet loss. dota 2, bf3 , war thunder ect... here is a vid how bf3 ran last month. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wM9q6YfL2oM (skip till 30 because that's how long it took something to happen) Ping is fine, packet loss not. Going to call them to put me on Capped network for a few min to see if it still happens, otherwise i want them to swop out my Antenna, will call them when im not that busy

I had packed loss problems on Dota 2, until I changed default port to other recommended port by Valve.

Amobia fixed the Secondlife issues in minutes, while I spoke on the phone to the technician and logged in to Secondlife. They will help me tomorrow evening with the WarInc. issues, which I'm sure will be fixed pretty easily also.

Just to mention, since Amobia sorted out the Secondlife issues, it is working better, with things rezzing/appearing faster than I ever experienced with wired uncapped. The avatar appears within only 2-5 seconds, as opposed to the usual average of 10 seconds to even minutes with wired uncapped. The environment now appears within 2-5 seconds also and the objects and their textures within a 1-3 minutes, rather than the usual 1-5. (This on 3MB speed, compared to wired 4MB)

The technician phoned me this evening to let me know that he has emailed WarInc. in order to solve the issues I'm having with it, since the usual way of setting priorities/ports etc. did not work. Seems they go out of their way to help gamers.

I am on the 3Mbps fibre line. Surfing webpages are no problem, but if you dare to try and download torrents or files from a Newsserver you will be throttled to death. My download speeds are 0.1 kbps to 20 kbps, I am lucky to hit 40kbps. I have logged the problem with them but they refuse to even acknowledge that they are throttling. They blame the "peer to peer" servers...what a crock.

I am jumping ship as soon as I can.

I asked the technician about torrents running at 0 kbps on their system and he said that they had recently cut torrents to zero for a few days while the techies solve the massive congestion caused by torrents.

I'll gladly use the extra speed when you jump.

My torrents barely hits 10kbs aswell... Will call them soon again to try and sort out my packet flow issue.. Also cant login to Uplay from Ubisoft.

Amobia also prioritized ports but only on some servers of battlefield 3... but still dont work. think 70% of local servers are fine at the moment... had one server sunday that did not work and it was a DGL match. international is still 100% broken. uselessly 70-100% packet loss.

Try downloading using Putlocker links they work for free , unfortunately i normally buy direct download accounts to get decent downloading speed that's how i came up to those numbers.

Did some tests... Capped accounts have 0% packet loss, so I'm upgrading my 3mb uncapped to 4mb uncapped now (same price) and getting 1mb capped account with 4gb cap for international gaming. problems sorted although i have to pay more. hope uncapped side gets fixed someday then i just cancel my capped account.

Real-debrid.com. Buy an account. Paste in links from numerous file servers like net load, rapidgator etc. They create new links via their servers and you download. Works well
