My dad has been applying for jobs in Australia for ages, and I have even forgotten the date that he started

The problem is now a company has given my dad a job and we are now going to be moving to Mackay, Queensland, now it is pretty obvious that Vodacom has no 3G coverage there :p

I am nowhere near the end of my 2 year contract, I got it in February this year, now I don't know what to do with it, we are leaving in about 5 weeks time. I surely hope that Vodacom don't try to make us pay huge cancellation fees as this is obviously an unexpected development.

v3g, what can we do in this situation?

if all else fails, throw the phone into a river and forget you ever had a contract.

not good advice, but nobody in queensland would care if you were blacklisted in s.a.
v3g may not agree though.

i'll tell you what's not a rumor...

you hate vodacom for some reason (might be jealosy of their success and superiority over all other mobile sp's) and hang out in the vodacom forum bitching about them and annoying the rest of us with your useless uninformative nonsense.

Ok, I might be way off here, but this is from about 2 years ago. We had alot of consultants moving overseas: US, UK, Aus you name it.
Most of them wrote a letter to Vodacom, explaining the situation, and (*I think*) they were required to provide plane tickets and visa documents to prove the emigration, and the contracts were cancelled with minimum penalties.

I would suggest phoning them and explaining the situation to see what can be done.
