Hi any help would be great.

I have a Wireless link between me and a company I do Systems admin for as a back up in case their ADSL goes down as they use the ADSL for a VPN connection and remote desktop/terminal for their financial system. Also this link is currently being used for their Mail and Internet as they are waiting for the installation of their second ADSL line to be used for this.

Now we have a little isse as the local municipality is installing friggin camera's everywhere and they use the same 2.4Ghz band and is causing huge amounts of interference.

Is there anything that can be done or help ??

Yes. Get an upgrade to 5 GHz.
I had sim. prob.

It was all sorted out after my wi-fi was changed to 5ghz.
(cordless phones, microwave etc. they all run in the 2,4 ghz band area)

Hope it helps

The cheap way to try and solve it would be to change the channels which are being used - try and find out what channel these cameras are using, and make your channel as far away from it as possible - and then consider the (Expensive) 5.8ghz route!

Well I have considered going the 5.8Ghz route but its very expensive replacing all the equipment.

Also tried different channels but the one is worse than the other seeing we have a few farts in this place trying to get the better over the other one, there is a war going on supplying wireless internet in this place and the 2.4 Ghz band is so poluted with guys sticking 500mw and 1watt amps on every point they set up.

Oh my wireless woe's I feel like grabbing an old microwave and modifying the amp to fry all these suckers with a 1000watt signal so nobody can work on 2.4 for at least a week.

Eish !!
Man can't people just simply try and work together ??

Oh PS : apparently Transnet is using bands 7 and up for their network here so nobody is allowed to even go there if they do ICASA will shut you down faster than you can say now. Tried channel 11 and the throughput was pathetic.
