Pretoria - The African National Congress was subscribing to the "big lie" theory, the Democratic Alliance said on Thursday.

"The ANC subscribes to the theory that if the "big lie" is repeated often enough then people will believe it, and reality can be shaped by the ruling party," said Gauteng provincial DA safety spokesperson James Swart.

Swart was reacting to comments made by Tshwane metro mayor Gwen Ramakgopa.

Ramakgopa was quoted in the daily Pretoria News as saying that special police task teams together with the metro police have had "huge successes in reducing" crimes.

This followed her hospital visit to Pretoria teen Razelle Botha who was shot by robbers at her home last week.

The daily quoted her as saying that although police had had success at fighting crimes such as hijacking and house robberies "they are still at unacceptably high levels".

Swart said the mayor should explain what were the "huge successes" by teams as they had not been visible to communities.

"The time has come to recognise that we have a government which cares neither about truth nor the people it was elected to serve.

"It will say anything to try and shape reality to its own purpose," said Swart.

i must say, i completely agree with the DA. notice how theres always only a 'problem' in SA when things get critical?

One thing that I know is true: I don't need the DA telling me this to believe it. 15 years of lies, and the **** is waist deep, wait till your so far in you can breathe.

The good ones learn to blend the border between lie and truth is such a manner that the lie is not apparent on quick inspection.

The ANC on the other hand, are either too arrogant to even try, or are under the impression that people will just believe their every word.

That the conundrum, its a fact and the ANC knows it! Same with ol BoB they (Zim) all still believe its only a small stumble block. It will be beater in future, will take some time give or take a few hundred years but its all for the cause.

I agree too - but it's not just 'oh, this isn't a crisis' type lies.

It's saying that you didn't say something, when there's video showing that you did say it.
It's saying that there'll be public comment on something, and next thing it's law without any input from the public at all.
It's saying that growth is the cause of the energy crisis, when clearly eskom is generating less than they were before.

It's those blatant lies that irritate me the most.
 
There's a nice word in afrikaans for "lying so much you start to believe your own lies" - I'd rather not mention it because then I am a "racist" again... But that is exactly what the ANC is doing...

BIG problem is they have the numbers - and certian types of people who can "toi toi" at 10am on a Tuesday morning (how do they do it - I have to be at work?) in front of a court will believe any BS this corrupt and tainted "government" feeds them...

I believe this "Mayor" of "Tswane" is another incompetent idiot just like Sonjica and Manto...

Action is the best answer to criticism.

Let the Task team wipe out the house robbery gangs in Tshwane .

offensive measures required arrests need to be made.


I also think illegal immigrant involvement (Zims .Mozs )...is an element , can not be ignored.
