ANC FTW!

Well, certainly not from its main support base!

I don't know what is that suppose to mean. But if you have a breakdown of the electorate according to the amount of tax they pay, you are more than welcome to post it here.

As seen in Fig.1, support for the ANC remains high among black South Africans, while support for the Democratic Alliance (DA) is highest within the white group. Other minority groups such as coloureds and Indians, also seem to largely support opposition parties. Thus, it would seem that voting and party support in South Africa is characterized by race, particularly with regards to support for the ANC.

Fig. 2 reveals that on average, white South Africans receive much higher incomes than black voters. In other words, white voters are statistically more affluent than black voters. Thus, perhaps this reveals that class may be a significant driver behind voter behaviour and party support, in addition to race.

And:

Voter behaviour in South Africa is not best explained by race, as popularly argued by a range of commentators. Moreover, although voting could be understood as racially polarised, this is purely a reflection of the high levels of partisan support enjoyed by the ANC among the country’s dominant demography, black lower income earners.

You know that's not going to be good enough don't you?
My predictions:
1. This is a biased media reporter who wrote this.
2. The author is colonialist
3. The author is part of the 3rd Force
etc etc ad infinitum

Well, if JungleBoy wants to try convince people that black is white, he's welcome.

And yes, that was a very naughty joke... :-D

Permission to add a 4th?
The post will stay in th thread completely ignored by the usual suspects as between them they will not be able to come up with a decent reply...

I've experienced this 1st hand and I find it irritating/frustrating.

This was mentioned also as part of the article you refered too.
This does not mean that a voters’ class determines where they place there X on Election Day, as seen in the case of COPE and the ID.

There is also no mention of the estimated 9.3 Million black middle class and who they are likely to vote for.

The average monthly personal cash income of Black Diamonds is R5 900 - comparable with the R5 800 average personal cash income of the white population. The segment is estimated to be growing at between 40% and 50% at present, although this must slow up in the future. This is South Africa's economic tsunami.

The study estimates that the black middle class - defined as black South Africans aged 16 years and over and within Living Standards Measures 5-7 - totaled 9.3 million in 2007, up from 6.3 million in 2001.

Surely these black diamonds pay their taxes. And surely a lot of them vote for the ANC. This segment is way more than the entire white population of South Africa.

Fair enough - I stand corrected.

There are 7 million registered taxpayers in South Africa. Of this number, individuals comprise 5 million, companies 1,7 million and trusts 300 000.

The study estimates that the black middle class - defined as black South Africans aged 16 years and over and within Living Standards Measures 5-7 - totaled 9.3 million in 2007, up from 6.3 million in 2001.

Can you be LSM 5-7 without being a taxpayer?

not earning enough to warrant a tax ;)return
Yes, I misinterpreted the LSM scale, thought it went to 8, but it goes to 10. From fishing around it would seem LSM 5-7 is only in the R30K - R80K pa earning bracket. One only needs to register for income tax if earnings are > R60K pa.

ANC... positive? You are insanely optimistic to even think of anything positive from the ANC. They know that upper class black people can differentiate between right (don't rape) and wrong (don't rape unless: 1) shower; 2)beetroot; 3)garlic). The ANC shamelessly USE and confuse the poor black community... leading them to believe that under ANC leadership Jesus Christ will decend upon them with homes and electricity.

Long story short: the ANC undermines the South African people by bull****ting them. Not that I give a **** about them. The ANC was BRILLIANT under Mandela's leadership. And then I was told that I now live in Sipo Swartmoer Street and that my taxes are being used on exquisite foods and drinks. Anyone who thinks that the ANC has anything to offer for blacks AND whites as a COMMUNITY and not as a racist faction, must have his head examined.

Take you stupid threads elsewhere. Or adopt a child in Soweto if that would tame your concience. Christ...
