"ANC implementing reverse apartheid": Maimane

So sum argument for this new apartheid is the implementation of employment equity and inclusive economic policies by the ANC? If that's the case then there are a lot of countries that practice apartheid all across the world, best Mmusi send them all a missive and alert them that they practice a system that was declared a crime against humanity by the UN.

Well, apartheid started out as an idea and then it got worse. So far the ANC has had a track record of making things worse.

It is discrimination. At its best that is what Apartheid was. The classification was black or white. Blacks could not do this and whites could do that.

Now you say discrimination is fair? You claim it as restitution.

The classification is still black or white. Is discrimination = apartheid? or does two wrongs make a right?

Discrimination was a small part of Apartheid. AA and BEE are much smaller 'wrongs', which hurt far fewer people, and are designed to help those who were hurt by a much larger, much worse system.

only country that has laws to protect the MAJORITY.............quotas, BEE etc.........isnt that reverse apartheid?

People don't realise that even if you limit it to employment, apartheid completely banned certain races from certain professions. They couldn't apply for the jobs, they couldn't study toward those areas of study. Apartheid only allowed races to practice professions which could be practised only in that person's race (at the bottom of the race rung anyway).

Sure, by punishing innocent people. Whenever you punish innocent people you bring injustice into the system. The Nats could have made similar arguments at the time to say that the whites came from overseas, were fewer in number, less knowledgeable of the terrain and so on and so needed a helping hand too. System is just unjust, in both cases.

A fair and just system would be to recognise needy people across the board and assist them with mentorship, aid, training programs and so on.

It seems that the ANC has better PR than the Nats, and that's about the only difference.

Nobody is disputing that apartheid was evil. What's at stake is whether it's OK to punish innocent people over it or over its effects. Whenever you punish innocent people you're being unjust. After all innocent people don't deserve punishment and only guilty do.

The Nats did the "potlood" toets to determined black from white. What are you going to use?

It seems exactly the same with AA and BEE.

I must have shown this to be false 3 times this month alone. People of MyBB, please read up about Ketuanan Melayu in Malaysia.

I'm not going to do anything. I'm not the government, and don't propose any tests to determine race.

I'm sorry Mmusi, but I don't agree. If anything, this seems like a cheap attempt at belittling just how terrible Apartheid was. The ANC has done a lot wrong, but nothing near as bad as the NP. The ANC (as an organisation) is like the dumb kid at the back of the class. He means to do well, and thinks that he does, but he hardly ever gets the answers right. he doesn't mean to do any harm though. Also, he says that the ANC doesn't provide opportunities, but claims to want a market based economy. What macroeconomic policy shift would he bring, the ANC has done a great job overall with economic policy.

Your name says it all.

The numbers don't agree with you.

I don't think it's just that. There seems to be a very strong anti-black rhetoric coming out of them in recent months. And if redressing past inequalities is really an issue, why do they need to bring in Cuban engineers?

Are you refused the chance to enter certain professions just because you're a particular race? Are you not allowed a chance at studying or practising as a given professional simply because of your race? Are you banned from certain professions because of the colour of your skin?
