ANC MEDIA ALERT: ANC NELSON MANDELA BAY DISPELS THE INSINTUATION BY TROLLIP THAT ANC COUNCILORS DISRUPTED COUNCIL MEETING
The ANC Nelson Mandela Bay would like to dispel the aspersions that the ANC Councillors disrupted the Council Meeting this afternoon (27 October 2016) and fired shots inside Council Chamber.
To put the record straight when the item dealing with the IDP meeting which was held at Nangoza Jebe Hall three weeks ago, alleging that Councillor Xola Sabani hijacked the meeting, ANC Councillors disagreed with the manner that the item was crafted.
The Speaker of Council denied an opportunity for the ANC to debate the matter and fracas ensued when a DA Councillor fired three shots inside the Council Chamber. Security from the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality then entered the Chamber to remove ANC Councillors which they objected to the presence of security as the Council was debating a matter which was on Green Paper,a matter which does not allow members of the public and officials to be part of a meeting.
ANC Councillors who alleged to have been caught in the fracas have opened a criminal case with Humewood Police Station .
The ANC in Nelson Mandela Bay will be convening a press conference in Friday the 28 October 2016 at Florence Matomela House to clarify the untruths peddled by Athol Trollip insinuating that it's the ANC that started the fracas in Council Chamber ,starting at 11 am.

Dear Nelson Mandela Bay,
I have never before witnessed scenes of extreme violence such as those meted out by ANC councillors at yesterday’s council sitting.
In a constitutional democracy where voters choose their leaders through the ballot box, it is unfathomable that a single political party, the ANC, can reject the will of the electorate by attacking the very structures that, and the people who now govern our Metro.
Party Representatives from the DA, UDM, ACDP, COPE, EFF, AIC and PA in the Nelson Mandela Bay Council have all come out in utter condemnation of the ANC's horrific acts, and have urged the Speaker and Police to conduct thorough investigations so that those responsible are charged and prosecuted.
Yesterday's events unfolded as follows; When two ANC councillors were asked to remove themselves from the chamber for repeatedly disrupting the meeting, the Speaker and the Acting City Manager asked security to escort them out. This resulted in the ANC caucus, one of whom was carrying a knife, forming a barrier between security and the two councillors in question, chanting “We will beat you! We will beat you!”
Another two ANC councillors, serial offenders in the chamber, aggressively charged at the Speaker, whose podium is a sacrosanct and inviolate space. They picked up glass jugs and threatened to assault the Speaker at which point a number of DA councillors, including MMC Rano Kayser, rushed to the Speaker’s defence. In the most horrific act of violence and criminality, one of the ANC councillors smashed the 2 kilogram glass jug over MMC Kayser’s head, inflicting a critical injury that required intervention from medical personnel and hospitalisation.
Further chaos then descended on the council with a number of glasses, jugs, tea cups and saucers thrown at the government leadership by various ANC councillors. A single warning gun shot into the ceiling from a Close Protection Officer brought the ruckus to an end. Another councillor, Rosie Daaminds, was also taken to hospital having suffered a panic attack.
I have on numerous occasions requested the ANC’s provincial and regional leadership to stop their members and councillors from engaging in disruptive and aggressive behaviour before people got hurt, but to no avail. The paucity of leadership in this broken organisation is endemic, and is starting to spread like a cancer, dragging innocent people into horrible and violent situations.
The ANC has totally lost its way, resorting to acts of extreme violence, intimidation and thuggery. This matter is being investigated by the South African Police Service and the same will be done by the Speaker’s Office. Those responsible will be held to account and will face the full might of the law.

ANC slams its Nelson Mandela Bay councillors over brawl
ohannesburg - The ANC on Friday condemned its Nelson Mandela Bay councilors, following a brawl between them and DA councilors at a council meeting.
"We condemn the incident that took place in the strongest terms possible. One of the strongest principles of the ANC is non-violence," ANC national spokesperson Zizi Kodwa said.
"No amount of blame game will help people understand what happened."
The ANC’s regional members however threatened to "rise up" and defend themselves.
The ANC was reacting to violence at a council meeting in Port Elizabeth on Thursday. The fight in the Woolboard Exchange Building was finally brought to an end when a security guard allegedly fired a shot into the ceiling.
DA councillor and mayoral council member Rano Kayser and ANC councillor Rosie Daemons were both taken to hospital. Kayser sustained a serious head injury, while Daemons apparently fainted.
The fracas broke out during a discussion about the disruption of Integrated Development Plan meetings being conducted across the metro.
Mandela Bay Mayor Athol Trollip on Thursday described the violence as the lowest point in the history of the council.
He said ANC councillors Andile Lungisa and Makhi Feni had approached the speaker’s table, and one of them had struck Kayser over the head with a heavy, glass jug.
Lungisa told News24 on Friday that the DA was violent and arrogant.
"I think we are going to lose our patience on the issue of the DA. We cannot be beaten by the DA, like kids. If it needs be, we will defend ourselves. Time will come where we rise up and defend ourselves."
Kodwa said the public was looking to council for service delivery.
"That incident must never happen again," he said.
Lungisa blamed the DA for the brawl and claimed the party was violating rules and procedures. He said ANC councillors who were allegedly assaulted during the brawl had filed charges against their DA counterparts.
The ANC lost the metro to the DA following the August 3 local government elections.
