Neither my surname nor my mother maiden name is there :-/.

Stamouers (I think) just means you are distantly connected/related to one of the early non white people, maybe Khoisan to a lesser extent, but mainly to the slaves that were brought to South Africa by boat.

I'm not so sure about this, nowhere on the stamouers site does it say that all these stamme are related to non-white people, many of them are definitely white VOC workers from Europe like my stam happens to be. There may be some coloured blood in there later on, but I don't think the fact that you have an ancestor listed means you have coloured blood.

Sorry you are right. Not sure what I was thinking this morning. Probably thinking of the topic and Trevor Manuel who is deemed to be a coloured person.
Do a search of the Slaves in that Stamouer website for clarity of what I was trying to express.

In the sense that they simply distanced themselves from Manyi's comments.
With Trevors comments, they expressed disappointment and concern, that he did not get permission from them to speak. That's what it seems like to me.

Living in doomsday land! SA is not SINKING!!! Only nay sayers think it is. A lot of things moving forward. Yes there are crooks stealing our tax money, but the good that is being done is helping this country to move forward.

Thank you Trevor for being brave enough to speak without being subjected to the self censorship within the ANC. For a long time now many ANC stalwarts (from the old days) have had to bite their tongues in the service of a 'united front' - Trevor has blown it wide open - and about time. The ANC acts like 'any other' political party in the world on every other front (venal, greedy, tolerant of popular idiots - normal in other words) - it's only internal differentiator was clinging to the struggle concept of a 'united front' - welcome to the new world where things can't simply be swept under the carpet anymore.

Trevors open letter is one of the best things to have happened to the ANC (although they won't see it now) and South Africa for a very long time - he's exposed the silent rot within the ANC where Africanism and Black Racism is rife behind closed doors) - as they say in Afrikaans, 'wat die hart van vol is, loop die van oor' [loose translation: what the heart of full of, leaks out of the mouth].

i think you are misreading the situation

Among other disturbing remarks made by Manyi during the interview broadcast on KykNet , while still Director-General of the Department of Labour, were:

We want to categorically put on record that the remarks made by Manyi neither represent ANC nor Government policy.

Any narrow view that coloured people are in "over supply in the Western Cape"

What we also find unacceptable is a description that portrays coloured people as a commodity

we believe that in this particular instance, he has committed a grave error of judgment.

Having reflected on our displeasure on the remarks by Manyi

I am not sure that constitutes simply distancing.

in fact i would suggest that Mantashe's statement reflects the reality of the situation. That Manuel was acting in his personal capacity and not one as any office bearer - reflected by Manuel stating that

So let us forget for now that I am a cabinet minister and that you are a director-general equivalent, in the same government.

I want to address you simply as a compatriot South African.

Which then puts Mantashe's statement in context
