ANC raps Trevor

Why do you say this? My stamouer in that list is from the VOC/Holland and I'm quite sure he's white.. all of his family turned out completely white at least. Why would stamouers that were Europeans not be on that list?

Yes I get your point.
Maybe the first chap in your family that arrived here in South Africa 300 or more years ago had relations with a non white person and their children married back into seemingly white families and several hundred years later the descendents appear to be as white as the driven snow.

My great great grandfather married a woman with the surname of Barchfeld. You will find that surname amongst the Stamouer list. But if you meet me in real life you will identify me as a white person.

As I said South Africa has a rich and diverse history. Professor Heese back in the heyday of the Apartheid regime stated that any white South African family that has been in the country at the time he said it for more than 100 years is likely to have Stamouers in their family, in other words coloured blood. Of course this was not taken up very well by the Volk at the time.

Trevor Manuel is a coloured person. The ANC is finally revealing what they think of other races...

Possibly. But I think it's more likely that the ANC is just showing how intolerant they are of dissent. It's a throwback to the days when they had to show a fully united front to fight against the Nats. Now it basically just means that if the biggest guy in the crowd says 'Moo', anybody who doesn't do an instant cow impression gets ostrichsized.

Will Trevor stay in the ANC or will he now form his own political party after Gwede Mantashe, ANC Secretary-General, when questioned said: "(We) do not aggree with the contents (of Manuel's open letter to Manyi) it's unfortunate Manual dit not consult or discussed it with me.

Is Trevors days in the ANC numbered

In the ruling party's only comment on Manuel's outburst
against Manyi, secretary general Gwede Mantashe hinted that the
ANC heavyweight and planning minister in the presidency had
acted without the party's backing.
"He does not want our view. If he wanted our view he would
have written a letter to us. He went into the open. We won't
join the match, we won't get into that mud with him," Mantashe
said.

:D

He and many other so called white people with stamouers.
Nothing to be ashamed of. South Africans should embrace their history, it is rich and diverse.

Click the link at the top of the page entitled Stamouers and check the A-Z listing for your surname. While you are checking look for your mothers maiden name and your grandparents surnames too. You might be surprised. :-)

This is the first time I have ever heard of Stamouers. It has the founding history of my family in there (which I already knew), but I still don't quite understand the connection to the Stamouers.
My ancestor came from Ireland and married a Dutch woman.
Does it just mean that if I'm a Stamaouer that there is a coulered ancestor in the mix? Thats obvious by the darker completion of our South Africans compared to our European ancestors.
Is that all it is or am I missing something?

People that came to settle in South Africa before 1800 tend to be refered to stamouers if I'm not mistaken...

Jump from the sinking ship Manuel !!! save yourself ;)

Only delusional people believe that ANC is sinking ship!!! Lot more life left in that ANC!! Most clever people can see beyond the negative rhetoric of the media!

Wait and see who will win local gov elections then talk of sinking ship!

I am not qualified to answer your question, but I would like to make comment if I may. People like Heather MacAlister of Ancestry24 could help you with specific details of your Genealogy.

Some 6 years ago I spent about 18 months part time researching the male side of my family which I found out came from England circa 1846 and married a woman who was born in the Cape Colony of German descent stemming back the First British Occupation of 1795. Most of the Afrikaans/Dutch/German/Huguenot families of South Africa have been researched and documented so there is often no need to redo that research, but you could tie up your family to one of theirs. With Genealogy you start with what you know, your family and you work backwards. Chances are you will connect to one or more of the researched families in South Africa which quite possibly could have Stamouers within their lineage, as I was to discover with my own family, IF indeed the researched history is correct of course.

Stamouers (I think) just means you are distantly connected/related to one of the early non white people, maybe Khoisan to a lesser extent, but mainly to the slaves that were brought to South Africa by boat. If you calculate back it could mathematically mean that 1/32 or 1/64 of your make-up could be connected to this person. If this shows up as a darker complexion they maybe that is it. If this Dutch woman was the first of your generation in this country, what about the rest of the female side to your family. Most people trace the male line when the female line is just as important. At the end of the day you are half your mother and half your father practically speaking.
Going back too far in time can boggle the mind a bit. :-)

You may appear darker in complexion compared to your European counterparts due to our sunny climate?

The more than win, the more SA sinks, and so be it. The masses must pay for their votes.

Living in doomsday land! SA is not SINKING!!! Only nay sayers think it is. A lot of things moving forward. Yes there are crooks stealing our tax money, but the good that is being done is helping this country to move forward.

I originally would say so, but I have a friend that is a 4th generation South African from Irish decent. He is still as lilly white as can be and goes bright red in the sun. Could be the generations involved, but I have my doubts.

My uncle did our family tree in the late 90's and even went to Ireland and got our family tartan and crest. Maybe he knows more.

Why not research your family. It is great fun as Genealogy is quite addictive. It is like detective work, going to the Archives, Libraries, Church Registers, Cemeteries and getting as much information to make a Family Sheet.
It is important to question your parents/grandparents/uncles/aunts/great aunts and great uncles before they pass on, taking notes as this will help you, clues, when you do your own research. You may also discover sometimes how inaccurate some of their accounts might be? It could be the information passed down was just not 100% accurate.
For instance there must be some legend in your family as to where they came from. In my experience I encountered another picture than what the legend portrayed.
Oh, don't be surprised to uncover some unsavoury characters, although I did not find any in our family to be quite honest.

Oh it's all on the line right now Roost

Who's Daffy? Anyway, I agree that SA isn't a sinking ship, but it is definitely a ship where the crew don't cooperate, and one that moves forward much slower than the ship is truly capable of. At the moment, other ships are speeding away from us, while we constantly try to catch up. We need the ships crew to work together as efficiently as possible, if we want to have any hope of moving at the same speed as those other ships.
