ANC vs DA

The ANC and the DA are similar in many instances, they are both political parties. The ANC is becoming more and more corrupt, ANC leaders are using the ANC to enrich themselves at the expense of service delivery and the poor. The DA provide quality service delivery to the rich and elite, the poor are not really benefiting from the DA's governments. In future, the DA will rule most municipalities in SA while the ANC will continue to rule SA. People on the ground view and perceive the DA as delivering services to all and view the ANC as corrupt and incompetent. At the same time the DA is viewed as a party of the rich and white, so therefore people think the first priority for the DA is to maintain the living standards of the white minority, and then the black majority. The black majority will end up voting for the DA at municipal level and ANC at national level. I think that's fair?

Hmm. I don't think julius will take to well and will probably start spouting "revolution" garbage again and war is not off the cards but you can relax, D.A doesn't stand a chance, not until it has a black face.
 
Fact is most blacks folks still view white folks as oppressors, no that the white folks have done anything to change that perception(or reality).

Voting DA for now is still viewed as bringing the oppressor back to power.

We can argue all we like why people should vote on merit... But until that perception(reality) changes i guess the ANC will rule till Jesus returns.

So who was fired for losing the SAIL contract to manage Cape Town stadium? Wait, nobody.
So who was fired for misrepresenting statastics about crime in Khayalitsya? Wait, nobody.

Don't kid yourself, it's all politics. There is no "Good guy.". At the moment the DA is a lesser evil but they aren't the great white saviour of South Africa.

No, you are distorting the truth.

The DA delivers to the people who vote for them.

If people dont vote for the DA in a specific ward, they obviously dont want the DA there, so why waste time on them?

Always keep your voters happy, otherwise you might end up without any votes.

I agree with that statement fully, a lot of (black) people I know are sick and tired of the ANC's empty promises and corruption. They are tired of watching leaders attending lavish weddings and driving expensive cars and drinking overpriced whiskey/champagne.

They really want to give the DA a chance to see if life will be better or not.

Three things are stopping them from voting for the DA:
- The first is because they will feel they are traitors for voting for a party run by "white people/former oppressors" and voting for another party means one doesn't appreciate and is not thankful for the freedom given to them by the ANC and everyone who died during the struggle for freedom.
- The second is that some ANC leaders such as Julius Malema are increasingly successful in making racism a reason to continue voting for the ANC. Reminding people of what happened during apartheid and instilling white power fears and therefore anger towards white people.
- The third is DA supporters, it really doesn't help DA's cause when some white people are racist towards blacks, for example it does no one any good if someone posts a comment on the net saying all black people are monkeys or that black people are destroyers of infrastructure or black people can't effectively run a country, and then pointing out examples of all the African countries and the way they are run. Just because Julius is stooping low doesn't mean you have to.

The day the DA will win more black votes and eventually unseat the ANC as the ruling party is when it is seen as a party run by blacks, I'm not talking about fronting. I'm talking about finding more black people like Maimane. It will do the DA good if more educated, competent, ethical black people are the faces of the DA, more especially if they speak broken English like Julius Malema because that is what will appeal to the masses. Maimane and Lindiwe with their "polished" English will never gain the support of a large number of people, only the support of very few people.

The DA is a party for all South Africans & not excluding anyone.

Why make such a stupid comment?

As far as I know, the ANC is run by black people.

Why must everything in this country be run by blacks?

What about all the other races in the country?

Majority of America is white but run by a black man. Is that a problem for you?

The gist of his post seems to be that black people will only vote for black people, more so if they come across as uneducated :confused:

If Helen Zille can speak fluent Zulu or Xhosa or Tswana and be from a similar background as the majority of South Africans (which happens to be poor and black) then we can debate. I'm just being realistic.

Name me three prominent black politicians who are a part of the DA. Household names please?

Now don't get me wrong, I vote for them but under duress. As long as they refuse to appoint black leaders in highly visible positions in the party they are going to be called a white party.

Kingrob is obviously naive... the DA won the WC and proceeded to appoint an all white all male cabinet giving the ANC & other race obsessed groups the ammunition to label them a white only interest party.

Exactly, but not uneducated. Mandela is very well educated and commands a lot of respect from both races for what he did. Chances are if he were given a magical pill to make him 40 years younger he wouldn't be voted to the ANC's top position because he wouldn't be seen as in touch with people's everyday economic problems, unlike people like Julius Malema and Jacob Zuma. Those two guys are from poor backgrounds and are perceived as not out of touch with ordinary poor people (even if they are).

She does speak one or other indigenous language as far as I know. And she's a veteran of the liberation struggle.

Anyway considering that the average South African is poor black and uneducated I'd be a bit worried if a leader was too average. Oh wait....

I'm saying that you shouldn't look at colour when making the decision to vote for a person/party.

If South Africa gets a leader that can get the economy going, create work opportunities for people, uplift poor areas, create a better SA for all & happens to be Indian/Colored/White/Black/pink/purple, I would vote for him/her without even thinking about it.

I'm afraid the ANC has become an extremely racist party that only care about blacks, and not everyone living in South Africa. Just not good enough.
