Here is a nasty international trend:

Copper thieves have caused commuter chaos this morning, stealing cabling from four railway boom gates across Melbourne, causing them to close automatically and bringing traffic to a standstill.

Copper theft is on the rise in Australia, with thieves stealing the valuable metal from train lines, communication cables, air-conditioners and old radiators.

Police say organised gangs have moved into the scrap-metal business to cash in on soaring world demand for copper and scrap metal.

Last year in Melbourne, police made five arrests over a series of thefts of copper from high-voltage overhead rail wires on the suburban train network.

Just for a change.. Another country`s problems. :)

Copper theft is on rise globally, I saw a show on it on an American network, it's getting worse in the US also.
