Can't say I blame him.. blowing the whistle on government corruption is a particular dangerous activity in a gangster state

he's not accused of any crime is he? you need to be formally accused or convicted of a crime before there can even be an extradition request

hopefully he fled to a nation that's irritated by the ANC's stance on Ukraine for example, they'll give him plenty of airtime to spill the beans ... and of course hopefully when he feels a bit safer overseas he does in deed spill the beans in detail
As it stands, there are no formal charges against De Ruyter... it seems like the ANC and Eskom are preparing to lay formal charges. I think the developed nations are looking at SA differently, though it does not seem like they are upset.

I would also have gone off the radar if I made damning allegations. I hope he is safely away from harm.

I really hope he has left the country. It would not make sense to be in hiding, within South Africa.

I also wonder that in the event he is discovered, and he is found to be in another country (presumably one of the developed nations), could the South African Government not send a request for extradition to that country? How successful would the ZAF government be in such an extradition request? Could De Ruyter prove political persecution at another court? I know extradition requests can take years to conclude.
Extradition would be very successful, just look at the Gupta extradition.

I'd think that the state wouldn't drag their feet as with the Guptas though.
De Ruyter is a beast of a different complexion mos. ;)

Think a white anti-corruption crusader being basically ousted politically and villified by racially charged groups could argue for asylum most places

The cadres are well aware of who is involved and have been getting their shares continiously for a while now. Remember pigs eat from a trough and share amongst pigs.
The "How must we eat" comment sealed it for me. That's a very particular phrasing
