Just interested to know if any Galaxy Nexus owners have received their update yet?

Well I just received the 4.0.2 -> 4.0.4 OTA update about a week ago and that's been out for ages so I doubt 4.1 will be pushed to us any time soon.

Nothing here yet... and I have an official stock takju phone *twiddle.fingers* From what I've read the takju's are first up .. then it'll spread to the other Google variants (yakju etc)

Technically speaking, Android 4.1 / Jelly Bean was the preview version given out at the I/O conference. The OTA version being rolled out is actually Android 4.1.1

Just root your phone and download it from forum.XDA-developers.com! I'm running it now on my Nexus and its flawless, ultra-smooth.. pretty much as if I've bought a new phone :)

You can always un-root later if you need to return your device

I have a Google Nexus S and apparently we will be receiving it after 16 July

Hmm...I read of such things, not sure I have the guts (knowledge) of changing my phone from yakju, I'm lying I've read a bit about it but it sounds complicated so I just wait for Google\Vodacom to release the automatic firmware. I know I know it's it not the best thing, hell I only got 4.0.4 last week! Call me lazy:D

Guys, I updated a friend of mine's Galaxy Nexus to 4.1.1. I did this on Wednesday. He's on yakju, I am probably the first person in South Africa to have done this :D

You can download the OTA link for it from here:
http://android.clients.google.com/p....signed-yakju-JRO03C-from-IMM76I.f946a412.zip

Obviously, you need to be on 4.0.4 first, as this is an incremental update.
Link was found here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...elly-bean-release-version-jro03c-takju-yakju/

There are multiple methods, but the one I find the easiest, is with an unlocked bootloader, booting into CWM 5.0.0.2, then installing the zip via CWM.

Unlocking the bootloader:
http://atlocalhost.wordpress.com/20...y-nexus-maguro-shipped-with-yakjuxw-firmware/

The biggest issue here is that you need the USB drivers installed, fastboot binary must be working, etc. Not too difficult.

Technically, you can flash directly from the stock recovery bootloader, but I prefer doing a temporary boot into CWM. so that you can install from one zip file, instead of flashing each image individually.

Once you've got fastboot access to your device (test with fastboot-windows.exe devices to see if it lists your phone), you can issue the following:
fastboot-windows.exe boot cwm.img

Just make sure the fastboot executable and the CWM boot image are in the same directory (or path). Depending on the names of your boot image and executable of course, YMMV.

Finally, when in clockwork mod, just install zip from sdcard, navigate to the downloaded zip on the SD card and wait... 10 minutes later, you should have Jellybean on your yakju phone :)

Obviously, disclaimers:
I am not responsible for your phone or your flashing. Always do MD5 checks on the zip files you download to make sure the download was successful and not corrupted.

Of course, we need proof ;)

I love the Galaxy Nexus, it's such an awesome phone!

On Thursday evening, my stock ICS 4.0.4 Galaxy Nexus announced that an update had been downloaded. After applying the update, my phone rocks Jelly Bean 4.1.1. I'm already over Siri, er, I mean Google Now Voice Actions That Work In South Africa >[:)]D<

I bought the Galaxy Nexus over the more powerful phones for this reason and I feel great right now.

Forgot to add that my phone is not a South African variant, would never buy one here as the phones here are mostly fiddled with.

No camera but 3G does work now. I never cared about a camera on a tablet (never use it) so no cam is okay with me.

Since this thread's title is so misleading, I'ma be trolling.

Plenty S2 users had been getting their jelly beans on for a few weeks already with the CM10. Some have been reporting bugs in the preview release, but I am one of the lucky ones who didn't have any problems. All hardware issues hadn't been fully sorted, but it feels perfectly smooth
