Android 5.1 Lollipop announced

When are we receiving Android 5.0 for Note 3 from Vodacom? Ek vra maar net.

Great, and here I am still waiting for 5.0 :(

Been waiting so long for 5.0 on the Galaxy S4 (i9500). I know Samsung messes with the OS before it gets released, but something tells me that once they are done with it, I will still have to wait for Vodacom to fiddle with it as well...

At this rate, I will probably get a new phone before the update comes out for the S4.

My biggest issue with Android. Updates are determined by three parties.. Google - > Manufacture -> Service Provider. This cycle for each updates means some users going to a new phone before the update is available on their current device.

Yep. Also my biggest gripe. I am now 2 versions behind.

I deeply regret lollipop , the fact that it no longer groups programs and opens each one individually has been driving me up the wall, not to mention making multitasking way more difficult.

Official Lollipop for the S4 has been released in some other countries. There is no reason to wait for release in SA. Get the Indian version (INU) from Sammobile, and you'll have it installed an hour later. INU does not include any additional bloatware from carriers.

Device Protection adds an additional layer of security that keeps your lost or stolen device locked until you sign in with your Google account, even if it is reset to factory settings
Hmmm... I need more information on this. *Heads off to Google*

Want releases quick? Get a G3!
G3 got Android 5 even before Google Nexus devices. Was very surprised after what I was use to with Sammy devices.

EDIT : Except this time around. Factory images are already available for Nexus devices if you're keen to flash yourself.

Will give it a few days for OTA, else will flash my Nexus 7 and 10.

Lollipop is amazing. I highly recommend that anyone who doesn't have it yet flash it on themselves immediately. It's a huge improvement over KitKat. The smoothness and transition effects are awesome.

I'm running Cyanogenmod 12 with the Franco kernel. Great battery life and totally stable.

Nothing gets Android updates faster than Nexus. Everyone else modifies the firmware before releasing it, even Motorola with their almost-stock firmware.

How did you find Lollipop on your Nexus 7 compared to KK?

It seems a little zippier, but to be honest - I don't use it much. It's been repurposed as an IP camera viewer.
The Nexus 10 however, much better. Especially battery life. Battery life is insanely better.
