Yup. The model we've got in SA is locked, I've had the full Android experience from my Xperia Mini to a Redmi Note 3 on custom roms. My note3 was x stolen though so back to the G4

That's sad, so very sad,
If your phone out of warrenty, I'd create a thread on XDA and see what people say, I bet somebody with a sa bound g4 has unlocked theirs.
