I see with Google you can pin a live score to your Lock Screen. So when I Google SA vs Italy yesterday, I just pinned it to keep track while I was driving.
With the live events on CarPlay - I wonder if something like this can be done?

Another major carmaker will be skipping Apple CarPlay Ultra
When Apple announced its CarPlay Ultra infotainment system, it created a divide among carmakers - some immediately announced they would adopt Apple's software. In contrast, others said they had no plans to do so. BMW just confirmed once again that it won't be using Apple's CarPlay Ultra and will double down on its iDrive infotainment system.
After a substantial delay, Apple officially launched CarPlay Ultra in May this year and Aston Martin is piloting the rollout. Other companies, including Kia, Hyundai, Porsche, Genesis, Ford, Nissan, Infiniti, Jaguar, and Honda, among others, have confirmed that they are working closely with Apple to bring Apple CarPlay Ultra to their users.
However, manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Polestar, Renault, and General Motors are reluctant to give away their software independence to Apple, especially with GM removing the standard CarPlay from some of its newer EVs.

Apple is expected to release iOS 26 next month, and as part of that release, CarPlay is getting an intriguing new feature: video playback. This marks a pretty important milestone for Apple, which has so far resisted offering such a functionality on CarPlay.
With iOS 26, apps will be able to play videos onto the CarPlay screen - of course, only when the car is parked. That sounds awesome, but there's a pretty significant catch.
Namely, automakers will have to enable support for this feature, it won't just magically go live. And so, many of them could decide to simply not bother, or might have very late rollouts.
On the other hand, CarPlay in iOS 26 is definitely getting redesigned icons and appearance options, support for widgets, and some updates to Music and Messages - these don't require any explicit approval from car makers so you'll see them in September.

Still find it so odd, you need to update your entire phone OS, for an app. Like surely the app can be updated without the phone OS?

Still pretty silly that you need to update the entire OS for it, plus maps, music and and. But hey you do you.

The app only works with the underlying APIs.
The underlying APIs live in the OS…therefore only update with it.
And it’s more a protocol than an App.
