Android data usage VS Blackberry (BIS)

hi

wondering what you guys are using data wise on your android phones. and here I mean the bigger touch screen ones, not the toys :p ;) :D

thinking jumping ship to android, but my concern is that I'm gonna need a huge data bundle to replace BIS which currently costs me R60

thoughts?
 
I use about 350 - 400 Megs, but I don't use my phone as intensely as I did my Blackberry. At first it was really frustrating to be constrained like this, but I have gotten used to it. Browsing on an android is a much nicer experience than on the BB except for the cost.
 
I used 500mb last month. I have a 600mb bundle from vodacom and I used it whenever i wanted to browse and email. I did avoid downloading though.

Think of it this way.

A Ferrari (HTC Desire HD) is much more fun to drive but it uses more petrol (data). A Volkswagen (BB) is not as fun and uses less petrol.

Note, I did not say Blackberry is ***, I said it is a VW, which is a decent car....flaming successfully avoided ;)
 
you could use Gb's easily if you want...

i use about 100 megs... but at home its always on wifi, so i can browse and download to my hearts desire :)

if you use it to receive e-mails and all that and are wise with your data, you can also keep it around 100 megs.

Oh ja, forgot to mention that at home also have wifi on.
 
I also use wifi at home. The problem is just when you are away from home you rape your data. Depleted my whole 500meg bundle in one day when I was in the Cape for vacation.

Haha...No dude. I tend to google everything. If im with my mates and we are talking about He-Man and what his tigers name was, ill google it etc....Also, check FB a few times, receive emails, mybb, try some apps, news24, soccer scores etc

I guess that is why people use BB, it is a little bit slower, but you can use it when and where you want to.

Yes, but more like Ferrari with only 3 places in the whole country he can fill petrol + having to a chopper with a tank full of petrol that can save you from running out (wifi) vs VW with no need to fill petrol.

Buuuuut...Its damn good to own a Ferrari. haha

I wouldnt directly compare who we get data from as the petrol. Its the rate of consumption whereas the BB has a flate rate (R60). The wifi should be likened to a lovely oasis with a clear and cool splash pool and a 24hr petrol station manned by topless beauties helping us on our incredible journey...while the VW chugs along...boring...but reliable...zzzzzzz

I think thats a bad analogy, I have never seen a phone that you could equate to a Ferrari.

I think that a better analogy would be a Merc (Android) vs a Prius (BB). Merc is great looking car and you can go fast if you need, Prius is a bit quirky but comes with a lot of the same tech as a merc... the difference is the amount of juice needed to get around.
