Android Mini PC (HDMI Dongles)

Nice! How's the functionality for non-technical people?
Could you give this to a luddite and have them access Youtube / Netflix without too much hassle?
Also, I assume you could plug in an external Hard drive?
In other words - is it a viable alternative to say, Apple TV for the technically (very) inept?

One more question - I assume one could plug one of these into the HDMI input of their AV Receiver rather than straight into the TV?
Anybody tried that?

It is very easy to use if you have used Android before
With Youtube there is no hassle have not tested Netflix yet
It does support external storage
Have only tested on the TV and not AV Receiver

What is the remote like? Any pictures of it?

Can confirm that netflix works on the MK808s. HAve seen many a vid on youtube playing stuff on Netflix, so it should work on the one he's selling.
Although, you still need to have UnoTelly or other DNS thing and a Netflix account to access it

Well be keen to know how the Plex Pass andriod app runs on these

Hi Guys

We tested the mini pc with xbmc and plex and it handled every file format that we tried without any issue.
If anyone in Durban would like a demo please pm me or Gadgets2Go and we will arrange one.

We previously sold the MK802 version but we have moved away from the "MK" brand because of the lack of support from the company and quality issues.

The current ATV's we sell are unique and they come with their own IR remote as standard

Hope this helps
I am looking into this again, the only problem I have with the ATV120 is the lack of Bluetooth as it might come in handy (game controllers; send files from phone via BT; frees an extra port if you go with a bt Keyboard&mouse, bt headphones + speaker systems).

I am looking at the MK809 (II), any opinions?

In my opinion these Chinese Android sticks do not provide adequate cooling for the processor and other associated components due to the space limitations. This could cause instability problems and even complete failure after several months. There are better implementations of the Rockchip RK3066 available such as the Minix Neo X5 but they cost nearly as much as a fully equipped HP Microserver.

I got one of these dongles with the TV i bought. Never really used it until recently. It's ok. Pulls USB power from the TV, and has an infra red input with a remote that you can use (don't know where the remote is). USB input had my wireless Logitech mouse work. I assume a keyboard will work as well. I think I need to see if a USB HUB would work, because I would like to run a mouse and an external harddrive off it.

Gaming is OK. Installed Boom Beach and Clash of Clans on it. It wasn't nearly as smooth as my Note 3 or Note 10.1, but its playable. Just don't know how pinch zooming works with a mouse?

Streaming works, too. I installed MX Player on it, and streamed a 720p file over the network. Didn't pick up any problems. Now to see if the 27GB The Hobbit in 48FPS works ;)
