What would be the best pic.

a Used iPhone XR or a new Samsung S10E , both of these i can get for about the same price.

If you really want value for money though, get a OnePlus or Xiaomi.

I am not a fanboy, so both of those are great phone's and & OS's. Boils down to preferences.

Android just doesn't seem to grow on me, so every time I revert back to iPhone and I am very happy. I have to be honest when I say I feel I get a lot more miles from my iPhone than from Samsung (in terms of the phone getting "old"). The iPhones gets software updates for 5+ generations and every iPhone upgrade isn't earth shattering, so you can get a new phone every 3-4 years and it still will be pretty current.

How tech savvy are you?

-Are you into side loading apps like add free youtube/kodi/cyberflix/+1000's more if you are definitely go Android you get more freedom and more problems. Samsung is a bit overpriced compared to Huawei etc
-IOS holds your hand and doesn't let you do much that isn't under the Apple umbrella and is horribly overpriced but has safety things and less problems.

When it comes to performance Apple will always win the benchmarks because they have better CPU's but Android puts in more Ram and at the end of the day in your hand you won't feel any sluggishness from either phone or feel a 0.0000001 secs delay difference.

For me its an easy Android choice I hate not being able to do something/edit something/change something and Apple holds me back enough to be irritated

The new option is always the better option regardless of make, it’s like choosing a used Merc over a brand new Hyundai.

Have you owned both before? What do you prefer? ive owned both, i like Iphone and the IOS, its personal preference on reliability etc.... if you love your apps then Android is the only way

Neither. There are just as good phones out there at a lot less money. Both of those you are paying premium for the name.

i wouldnt call doogee or xiaomi as good.. what patch are they on?.. and how much spyware, doogee is well known for being outdated.

All the Doogees I have owned have had no spyware. Haven't heard of spyware on Xiaomi phones for years now. Everyone thinks if it isn't Samsung or Apple it's not worth it.

But we are talking upper spec phones here. There are many other "name brand" phones that compete on this level at much lower prices.

Xiaomi's MIUI includes ads in various apps. Fortunately all of them can be turned off with some tinkering. They do this so that they can sell their phone's cheap.

I recently bought a Redmi 7 on special for R2699. It's definitely not top of the line, but can you really expect it at that price? Regardless, it's an amazing phone.

I'd go for something like the Mi 9T Pro:

Wipe and load a clean Pixel Rom or such.
Great specs, monthly updates, affordable. (And no front camera spying on you all day)

this will make the phone uncertified and netflix will have a problem with HD

For those getting a phone to stream netflix with, yes. Most folks I know do that on their big screen TV's or projectors though.
It is something to consider though I guess
