Android smartphone makers and their security patches

My Motorola hasn't received a security patch since December's. It's also still on Android 7.1.1.

Needless to say I'm unimpressed.

im very very impressed with some ROMS that release updates almost on a fortnightly basis

my wileyfox swift gets updates (unofficial) once every 2 weeks

Yeah not surprised by the list. Huawei are useless

LG G4 hasn't had an update in almost two years.

Really? I have had a few security updates this year, with the latest one on 1 March. Much better than I ever had with my old Samsung. The bigger problem is with the networks. Luckily my P9 Lite got upgraded to Android 7.0 so I can get these security updates separately (I think that came in with 7.0?). Don't know if I will get OS upgrades past 7.0 as that is dependent on the cellphone companies, and they only care about flagship models about.

What annoys me is whenever I get a security update on my phone, it gets slower and clunkier. I try to avoid security updates now.

I'm super impressed with my monthly security and os updates, well done google!
Pixel 2xl.

It is amazing how much influence a big advertiser can have ! Samsung is absolutely terrible when it comes to monthly security updates. Sony is the best of any none Google phone. They like clockwork every month but unfortunately our local SP's take an additional month to make the update available!

My Huawei P9 is 1 March ... But my newer Mate 10 Pro is 1 January. I'm getting a P Smart in a week, which is newer than both ... Wondering what they'll be!

Sony must've improved, but when they originally released the P, S and Z series they were as bad as everyone else. In fact my Tablet Z hasn't had an update in 3 years, they also abandon their devices quite often even if they don't have a replacement.

My Z2 was official Android 6.0 before I lost. Don't think many of the phones in that area were on 6.0.

I also thought they were awesome

I had a Tablet Z too ... But can't recall much
