iOS stagnant for years.

Almost if the same group of owners simply buy the new model every year the base is not growing? As a company, I'd hope for 'new blood'.

I don't think Apple lose much sleep over SA sales.

This. Most of the growing part of Africa's smartphone demographic just can't afford iPhone contracts. It's not a huge mystery why Android would do much better in a third world country when its cheaper phones cost a fraction of iPhones. It would surprise me greatly if those numbers related to high end smartphone sales.

In other news, Apple's total domination of smartphone profits is actually a bit worrying. The competition can't do a whole lot with 7% of the pie to split among hundreds of phone manufacturers. Even Qualcomm is suffering.
