I need to buy my grade 3 child a tablet for school for next year. Does anyone have any recommendations for a suitable, bit of a future proof android device?

Bit on the heavier side, but the abuse it will endure is worth it. Kids tablets really suck, spec wise and performance. Going this route you can always enable parental controls via the settings.

Wow, the schools are trying to get kids addicted to electronics at such a young age.

amazing how so many of the mybb specialists have said im mad no kid at school has to have a tablet ,there spouses are high up teachers and have never heard of such nonsense before ,well they can go get sucked .heres a bit more proof its needed.my daughter also got her first tablet in gr4 ,a Lenovo 8 inch ,its still working shes now in gr12 .been a beast of a product .

Lenovo makes the best quality of the mid range Android options. We've sold hundreds over the years and they've had a lower failure rate than almost anything.

Unfortunately my kids' school has an 'Apple iPads only' policy, but they use Google classroom. How retarded.

No they don't they are overpriced, under specced plastic heaps of junk............

Almost 6k for this.

When I can get this, for cheaper, with better build quality, faster and better specced.....You only go lenovo when you don't know any better.....

Yeah it's normal, installing any unofficial firmware in general voids warranty, A lot of brands do this actually it isn't unique to teclast. Teclast has it's own update app. So what they really mean, is installing or updating to some thing they didn't directly provide.

Ok cool, the wording sounds like if you update the software the warranty will expire. Does it have normal google services such as playstore etc or is it like that k4k Huawei nonsense? I will probably order it off Amazon unless you know of a better place to order from?

No all teclast tablets come with google services preinstalled, no issues there. IDK android OS upgrades has never bothered me, considering you getting the latest android, it is personally a none issue, as you still get system updates. Anyone that argues that upgrades is essential, is talking horseshyte. There is a handful of brands that offer upgrades and those that do, usually offer at least one version on the entry and mid range and a few only security updates. LG for example only provided security updates on some of their models, it's only the flagship and high end that get the most love and attention.

You can order from sunsky, the buffalo option is duty free and you get it with in two weeks or so, it is going to be cheaper than amazon and that is without the adding the shipping costs of amazon and duties. Just checked as well the T50 is not available on amazon

Questions just ask here.

Lol. Lenovo might don't look like the best value when it come to tech geek hardware specs, but we have have sold hundreds of Lenovo tablets and only ever had to send about 1% back due to QC issues or and factory faults.

Teclast looks like better value, but they have zero firmware upgrade support and crap quality control. Hopefully they've improved, but about 3 years ago we mported about 30 tabs and within about 6 months about 4 or 5 were back with issues and useless service from the agents who were full of excuses. No child needs an octacore high spec tablet for Google Classroom.

Lenovo sucks. period, they have under specced hardware for a premium.Their laptops is another story, some good, some bad, but as for tablets, they suck, they were decent a few years back, but they aren't even close to what they were before now. Teclast IS better value, crappy quality control?. You should really lay off the weed brother, teclast handily out sells levono on tablets on amazon, Chinese store fronts, like gearbest, sunksy, aliexpress ect.

It may not look it, but teclast out sells lenovo in china, it is one of the more popular brands there.......Secondly it is about price/performance, so what if has a 50 core cpu, it doesn't distract from the fact a teclast with a 50 core cpu will outlast any under specced lenovo on usefulness.

I mean lenovo charging nearly 6k for a Snapdragon 680 chipset released in 2021, versus teclast that is charging 3.7K for a helio G99 chipset released in 2022 and out specs it.

No kid needs 6-8 cores, yeah this isn't x86 cpus, or at least it use to be, now that intel added efficiency cores, you DO know how the arm works right, if you did you wouldn't have made a dumb ass comment like that, arm has been using the efficiency and performance core combination for a few years now, you do know how battery life had improved as a direct result of using the little big design in mediatek chipsets. The core count has FKall to do with it right. ?

lol

This is the closest matching tablet to my current daily driver, getting the teclast T50 pro soon. You really shouldn't buy either, as they are old, but just to prove a point.

lenovo

Teclast

Lenovo with a 1280 x 800 screen res, what year is it ? and for that price. TF ? Teclast has the entry P26T with 1280 x 800 and it is appropriately priced, For 2.5K I can do the teclast M40 pro, you shouldn't as that is the old model, but just an example, Lenovo mid range tablets suck. I mean lenovo is still trying to sell their old tab 4's, you can still get it on the amazon store fronts, as well as some others and that was released in 2017.

Lol
Lenovo wants almost 9k for a Helio G99 chipset in south africa, 5k on amazon, excluding shipping and duties

Teclast T50 pro, with the same chipset, and better specs.

Yeah no.......I wouldn't wish lenovo on my worst enemy, if you were to say huawei is your brand of choice I would agree, they are slightly overpriced, but spec and quality wise they are better..........but lenovo.......just................ no

Bought one of these for our daughter :

Hasn't broken it yet - its not quite as sturdy as the Kindle Kids edition though. (her previous tablet)

EDIT: The stand on this thing is useless though, broke in the first week. 3d printed one.

I would like to know, why kids need tablets for school?
What is wrong with physical books?

I wonder how many tablets are broken a year by kids because it's now used in high risk areas.

I bought my daughter a m10 2nd generation. No issues so far. Agree 3rd gen is too expensive.
