Android TV Box

Hi.
I have been using the T95M tv box and recently purchased the ematic jet stream. The box is easy to use especially for Netflix and YouTube. I find however I am unable to search for apps that are not on the play store, where I can download the APK files and install. When I try to do a search, the result that I get are YouTube videos only. I notice that google is not in the downloaded apps section but rather in the system apps. With the other box it was easy to search in google and download apps and install. Can you assist.

You can sideload a browser from Aptoid TV. The Nvidia Shield is the gold standard and anything less is second best. The Mibox is decent, though, and I've got two.
The Nvidia shines - I've read and others can correct me if I'm wrong - because it has Android TV OS as opposed to the others which have Android Mobile.
 
Price of Nvidea Shield?
And where does one buy it. Have not see it advertised anywhere local.

I'm late to the party, so you're probably sorted - but Google has disabled Chrome on Android TV OS. So whether you get the Mi or the LIT or even the Shield... You're not getting Chrome.

There are browsers in the store you can try.

The reason you're not finding the same apps on the Ematic vs your old box is the same : Android TV OS has its only official app store.

There are something like 4,000 apps vs millions on your old box - but all 4,000 have been designed for a proper TV interface.
 
The mibox, lit and jetsream ematic have been around for ages now, what are the chances of them getting a hardware upgrade anytime soon?

Also what is the max Jellyfish video test file these things can play without stutter?

Ematic can be upgraded to Android 9, think Nology is working on that, but I know someone that loaded Android 9 somehow.



Telkom LIT is nonsense. It's Google certified but I don't think it's fully certified with Netflix, a friend's one can never reach 4k/uhd for some odd reason.

Mi box is the best budget option if one doesn't want problems. Ematic is also alright, Shield on the hand - is amazing!
 
Hoping the Ematic will be on special soon, maybe BF deal.

New shield for $150 odd. Price closer than the R4k and I’ll be replacing my MiBox with that soon
 
Ok I hear UHD, but just not HDR ....
