I prefer my 2019 Samsung TV (Tizen) as opposed to my Android TV for Netflix - it's still snappier and I'll get Netflix Atmos on the TV, but not the Android TV.

Disney+ though, is worse, on my Samsung and I prefer the Android TV.
Tidal is also worse on the Samsung - so I use my Android TV
Apple is fairly similar on both an both versions offer Dolby Atmos

As for updates, I've got certain apps updated June 2022 - so still a number of years after release

Until Google starts pushing updates that require certain hardware to be in place, like they did on mobile devices. If that ever happens, it'll be cheaper to replace a box than your TV...

It feels like it was 5 years ago, but must have been earlier.
Stuck on WebOS 2

Well, I'm running v3.9, so probably also stuck on WebOS 3.x.
I think the updates is only with patches and binary upgrades, no more OS upgrades...
It seems like that the TV's is supported for like a few years, but depends on the device and manufacturer.
