Android Useful Apps

Truedialer got a nice overall

The folks at Truecaller are rolling out version 3.0 of the popular Truedialer app today, bringing to the app a lighter and more capable user interface that plays much nicer with Material Design. Truedialer focuses on offering a crowdsourced Caller ID in the Android experience, and offers those results to help you better identify calls. This means incoming calls can be labeled based on Truedialer's blend of crowdsourced and previously identified aliases for phone numbers, allowing you to better identify unusual numbers or robocallers. With this new update, Truedialer has improved their UI and added an impressive new in-line search function, the combination of which makes this app significantly more useful than your stock dialer.

So it merges the contact list of each new user with its database?
a little bit creepy if it does

Caller id with use of internet definitely uses your phonebook as a resource for others.

Tried this before, if it was pro, why are so many companies/execs spelt incorrectly?

Stay away

Is this not the dialer that posts to facebook every time you receive a call to spam your friends and self promote itself
Yes, if you link your facebook to it. It doesn't force you to do it though.

Yes, why? Is your number a secret? A little pointless if it is. And whatbare they going to do with your number? Phone it? lol

Because it relies on crowd sourcing.

What I enjoy the most is when an unknown number phone you, it can tell you who is on the other end. Especially helps with spam numbers, like people trying to sell you stuff.

By not using the app, you aren't really protecting yourself from anything, as your number will be added to the db by a friend who will download the app. At least if you own it you can get some benefits from it.

Works well, but its a tad daft, there is no way to modify one of these crowdsourced contacts, at least none I can see and I got a call now that ID's as 'werk' which is very EFFING helpful. Some guy saved it logically in his phone as 'werk' so now that number calls any of these users and that's what we see.

hmmm, point taken... i did try and see if I could update something... and I couldn't...

You need trucaller to do that, while it both makes sense and no sense I guess in some cases you would not care at all about being able to update the data.
Personalty I would prefer both features in the same app, if the dialer can get teh info, it should not be much more code to set the data, its the inverse of exactly what its already doing.

That's what I dislike. It goes scratching in *my* contacts and sends that out to the world.

Ja, not worried about my number per say but taking my entire address book is not great.

Yes there are errors on it but it's still better than not having it IMO.

It looks like your local contact list takes priority over theirs... I.e. you can save "werk" to your contact list under its correct name so that in future it will show the correct info...

100K+ installs in less than a month = Impressive. No?
Not at all, those are all the android users that just switched from xbmc to kodi after the app switch. With the millions of Android devices out there, I would be surprised if even one of those installs is a new user, those are effectively all upgrade users.

These are guys who upgraded tablets, laptops, virtual machines, Raspberry Pi's, set top boxes and even TV's.

So no it is not impressive that they replaced xbmc with kodi and every xbmc did the logical thing and upgrades whichever android device they had xbmc on to now use kodi instead, it is after all what ever windows, Linux and Mac user did when kodi came out for them.

You do know that xbmc was not available via the app store before now?
