Android Useful Apps

It apparently doesn't have one on the phone. Look, it's not the end of the world and I'm sure I'll live without it. My incredulity is more directed at the monumental moron at Samsung who decided that this phone didn't need this basic function.

Is it just me?! :wtf:
Yip.

There are a few hacks and apps that can control the led, custom notifications etc, but there has to be one though.

What exactly are you looking for. If it doesn't have a LED there is not much you can do, or am I misunderstanding the problem here. Does it have one, but no setting in the apps to manage the colour etc?

It has no LED< he is basically looking for an app that will install a light into his phone, telling you, I will be uber worried the day an app can change my actual hardware.

Different strokes, etc. I hate the notification LED...

Ah, yeah you right. I guess it's just convenient. I don't want to be that oke now who constantly checks his phone for messages. At least with the LED, I could only go to my phone when something came in. Now I have to get into the habit of checking my phone every few minutes for messages or emails (particularly if I'm at a noisy site).

Ok, over it already. Just caught me off guard :)

True that. Guess I posted without actually thinking it through... Just goes to show my level of 'dafuq!'...

Glad to hear

Most of my phones have not had then, nothing special, woopi. That is why we have audible alerts.
+1
My devices are in covers, so even if the notification LED was eating away at the battery I wouldn't know it. The audible alert is worth way more to me. Again, different strokes.

Mine does does have a LED us I still use Dynamic Notifications (in the Play store)

The A5 has a Super AMOLED screen which means you only use energy on the pixels currently illuminated. That makes the app serpent suggested great for you as it won't use much more power than a notification LED would have anyway.

Dukto, another awesome open source app, very nice minimalist interface.

Installed on any 2 devices on the same network - Transfer files and text between them with zero setting up anything, just have to have the app open on the 2 devices you want to transfer between, very fast from my experience.

Perhaps not revolutionary especially seeing you can browse your computer with ESfile but it is nice being able to send files/text from the computer to the device without any setup missions, be very cool for sending files to a person visiting or from iOS to android/cross platform etc.

Tiny install on the computer and runs on virtually any platform, Android, Win, Mac , Linux etc

There is just one weird thing in the Android App settings that had me stumped, when changing the save-to location in the settings clicking on the name of a location opens it as a directory, you need to press the little circle next to the location name for it to auto select it as the one you want, normally you navigate to the location then press save, this was a little unintuitive.

Edit. The main advantage of this app is sending from the computer to your android device, the other way is a little clunky.

Any recommendation for an Android Call/SMS blocker/blacklister to run on Android 4.4.2?
I'm sick of unsolicited phone calls & sms's trying to get me to sign up for some product or service.

The Play Store has lots, but I'm looking for MYBB informed opinions from existing users re: which are the best "pest" blocking apps.
