Android Useful Apps

You are running Android. Android is android, nothing really special about the Priv that needs specific apps that other Android phones don't.

And it all depends on your needs, apps in what category are you really looking for?
- Productivity
- Games
- Customization
- Social Networking
- etc etc
I guess as a longtime BlackBerry user, I was trying to find apps that will make Android do things that only BlackBerry could do in the past. I suppose there is not really much that only BlackBerry can do these days?

A Blackberry for R14000????? You must be kidding.

I'm really interested to know how many of those they are going to sell.

I'm sorry, but I just can't imagine how that can be in the same price range as the iPhone 6Plus, Note 5, etc....

Blackberry used to be a premium phone.
Maybe they're back on top again.

It is a damn nice phone, and the BlackBerry software additions are good.

looking for an app that will point me to the location of a cell tower, measured from my gps position

any ideas ?

Your phone can use cell towers to triangulate its position so I assume the cell tower transmits its location. So what you want must be technically possible... I'm afraid I don't know of any though

No, triangulation works on other know variables, and requires multiple towers to be in range.

Variables like current signal strength, max signal strength, Tower range, weather conditions, etc. Which effect signal quality, that's why tower triangulation on a good day is accurate to 500m, but normally its 2 to 3km.

That's is why they are used with AGPS, basically the tower gives an area of where the phone is most likely in and the phone uses its list of known satellites to determine which ones are most likely to be above to determine which to focus on for connection.

Finding a tower with a phone will be tricky as not all towers are towers, erecting towers is expensive, so often they just put up booster sites, sometime at houses when client complain about poor signal, they put it at your house and it boosts the link between you and a tower nd benefits your neighbours too.

If I only know variables like signal strength, I still don't know where I am. Where does the actual (relatively inaccurate though it may be) location come from?

The phone calculates it based on the network info its getting from the towers, minimum 3.its its not in range of at least 3 signal stations you will get nothing.

Anyone else upgraded to the new Waze? Doesn't want to play nice on my S4, gives directions but keeps telling me gps not functioning whenever I try and report a hazard
