Android Useful Apps

I have removed this from my Tab, I got a reboot or two and it made tendering flak with the laptop connected to it have trouble loading pages and connecting to gmail. Uninstall and all is as it was.

I installed it on my Note 2 yesterday and my connection slowed to a crawl. Uninstalled and all back to normal again.

+1, it is also useful tool to remind you when meetings are running overtime!

You can also use Llama for that...
How? Whenever you go into a meeting -> volume down ->Shush! Asks for how long you want it to stay on silent. With Llama you'll have to schedule events? /much more of a pain.

For me, meetings are scheduled in my calendar. I use Tasker to silence my phone automatically for calendar events and put it back to what it was when the scheduled time expires.
Not sure if Llama cab do the same? Starting to prefer Llama so would be kewl if it does.

Well that is cool; I don't know whether Llama can do this automatically for calendar events. I am still using Llama's basic functionality and event recording, I don't have time yet to explore more advanced stuff. Though I believe Tasker might be slightly more advanced? Though I find Llama much more approachable, and easy to edit.

Go under the profiles tab, long press your desired profile (ie 'silent'), press 'activate and lock', select length of time with handy slider. After this amount of time, it will automatically revert back to the previous profile (or whichever one your events dictate). I use this for movies and meetings too.

I can't say whether this is better than shush, I haven't tried that yet. Park@82, which would you prefer? If the function ends up being mostly the same, I'll stick with one app (Llama)...as far as I can tell, Llama might have the leg up on this one, because you can set a length of time for any profile - maybe you want purposefully set a 'loud' profile whilst your in the shopping mall for the next hour?

Okay I can see Llama being handier for this as you can select different profiles.
Sush is much simpler to use (less taps). You simply press the -Volume rocker down and it asks you for how long you want it on mute... also the slider works better than Llama's IMO. If activating profiles on Llama works well for you, I see no reason to change. Personally I can see myself forgetting to do it all the time...

OK cool...thanks for the share! It seems that sush is even quicker to use, so if one doesn't Llama, stay with sush - like you said :-)

Thanks for the share

Shush looks interesting, and it can have its uses, but if your like me and schedule most things in your calendar, then tasker or llama can be a simpler "set it and forget it" approach. Shush would work nicely for unplanned things.

Not sure about Llama but after reading this I went into tasker and set it up, actually never knew about it and it was extremely simple, took like 3 minutes. It can check 1 or multiple calendars (if you have) and simply based on the busy setting you can define a trigger profile. For meetings you would always be setting your status as busy on your calendar so it will work well.

Both of these will be useful and for many can work together quite well, it depends more on the user, how often they schedule things inb the calendar vs how many random occasions you need to periodically silence your phone, also in many circumstances the time set in shush may actually be wrong anyway, unplanned events generally have unknown lengths too.

Any idea why it isn't available in the play store? That is a complete mystery to me.

Get on a tablets stunning once you have interacted with it on a touch screen a mouse is rather lame

Not sure if this has been mentioned but I just discovered Google Earth for my SGS3. It is not in the SA play store but I found the apk, loaded it and it is real cool to mess around on. 3D building in Durban look real cool.

Here is where I got it from: http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?802553-Google-Earth-v7-0-2-8403

Ha ha, you reckon I was lying? ;)

What phone are you on? Perhaps that is the issue. Oh wait, I have Polish 4.2.1 so maybe that is why. Anyone? I recall searching for it when I was on SA ROM though and can't recall finding it.

same issue here not in my playstore for either my tab or my s3...

What phone are you on?

OK then its really odd as I have 3 devices and its available on all of em? (See screenshot above)
Wonder if the fact that I 1st installed it some time ago, when I was in another country have anything to do with it?

Edit: Also what happens when you follow the Play store link I gave above?
