Android vs. Windows Mobile - which OS would you choose and why?

There isn't a clear cut answer - this will depend on what you use the phone for. Android is more fun, WinMo probably still more functional at present.

I wont agree with that statement, I've compared my Android to numerous Win mobile and winmobile is lacking in functionality.

winmobile - stylus (mostly)

android - entirely finger

i was an iphone fanboy, then got the SE x1, loved it, threw new roms on it every week, then i got the Hero and Android.

all i can say is, Winmo does not come even CLOSE to android. the speed, the stability, the customizability, the android market, eish dude android is going to take over the world, no doubt. and then add on to that that it is Google with ALL google features, so if you use gmail, then the minute you will turn android on you will understand.

+1

All my shared calendars, google maps, gtalk etc etc and the tons of free apps with the market

lack of functionality on droid??? hell no. i could show you a stack of things droid could do but winmo cant, but nothing winmo can do that droid cant.

And how much does the app cost to allow one to edit ms office docs on Android?

the official one or the many free unofficial ones? :)

ive got the official unofficial openoffice.....

Personally I use openoffice anyway and android let me edit my Google documents straight out of Google Docs from my phone

Which brings in formatting issues when working on MS office docs. The office viewers are available but apps to edit docs are not so readily available. Unless you buy them...

My point is simply this: I LOVE Android (very nearly bought my wife a Tattoo last week) but when it comes to everyday functionality some stuff is still missing. Apps are already far more developed than a year ago but, for me, editing MS word is essential and WinMo still does that better. Along with a few other things.

Android is superior in almost every way. Don't think I'll change again. I am thinking of rooting my Android mobile, because it sucks that you can't use it as a modem. There is software called PDAnet and it isn't helping much with the modem. That's all I dislike about Android.

After using OSX (Mobile) and Android it's impossible to go back to Winmo.

Actually, not so much. I used the good ol' fruit extensively for several months but ended up going back to WinMo because it suited my needs better. Sure, it's not as finger friendly and doesn't have the eye candy, but I no longer have sandbox issues or struggle without multitasking and the apps I like have way more functionality under WinMo than OSXM. It's all about what suits you.

That said, I haven't tried an Android device yet - could be different, but I'm not sure. Keen to give it a bash anyway.
