Annual leave, need advice.

Of course they are. All they HAVE to do is provide you with 6 months space within which you can take your leave if they don't give you your 15 days a year.
Yep, but the bottom line is that at some point they're obliged to give you all leave that is due to you. They cannot deny it indefinitely. Doing so will land them in serious schit...

Yup. Which is where that 6 month period comes in. Already at that point I'd already have left them - no use working for a company where they don't give you what is due.

A bit OT and a high jacking of the thread but...

When your company shuts down in December, does that come off your annual leave?

It does. Its up to you to make sure that you have enough leave available to make up for the shut down period. Any days you use up prior becomes unpaid leave.

Depends on company policy. Some don't deduct, some do. At my previous company, it didn't come off your annual leave if you were employed for 3 years or longer at the company. At my new company, I get so much leave that I don't even mind working through December and taking 2 2-week holidays during the year... :D

IF the period over december is a planned shutdown, its up to the company to inform you when trying to take leave prior to that period that it could be unpaid leave.

Yes it does. Normally the company will state in the contract that you should have accrued sufficient leave for the shutdown period.

And it must be continuous unless You agree otherwise.
