Get a Navara if it's just a car or an Isuzu if it's going to be used as a bakkie.

Oh look, Sam learnt to use some caps.

Anyway there's a few Japanese options. Not many double cab bakkies around that price though.

Rather look at something like the Mitsubishi ASX which looks decent, is relatively recent and reliable. Or even an older RAV4 or CRV. You may have to push your budget to 180k - 200k though...

Shot mike

looking for a bakkie more than a SUV

those rav4 are pricey though

I have driven most bakkies as they are part of the work fleet at my company (NP300, Hilux, Ranger), and must say the Toyota is worth the price. It just has a better drive and doesn't break down as much as the others. and these guys drive it like they stole it since it is company owned vechicles.

For that price range you going to struggle to find a decent one

Concur. Sorry Sam for R150k you're gonna get a wet dog of a bakkie.

Rather change your approach (must be a bakkie) or see if you can up your budget.

Try something reliable like ix35, Sportage, RAV4, CR-V that fits in your price range.

I have two friends with companies, one civil, one does industrial refrigeration maintenence.
Scenario 1 - Civil company had a fleet containing Tatas and Hyundai bakkies. Sold all. only hiluxes now
Scenario 2 - Other company had a fleet of rangers, sold all and now exclusively Hiluxes. the rangers were NOT dependable.

The harsh realitiy is, Toyota has a rep for a reason. That being said R150k wont get you much, but if you buying old, buy Toyota

I must be honest. Whenever i post on facebook/forums about Toyota and VW (polos) I always get this response. Im from the republic of cape town and this is not a factor at all. But if it is where the OP stays, then definately relevant.

Sentiments shared with a good family friend that works at ACSA (CT). He sees all makes of Bakkies on the fleet, okes abuse them, the Hiluxes are the only ones that survive & survive well. The rest go off to die.

when you build a car/LCV properly, no surprise there,
but then again, driving around in a high risk vehicle, got its own issues.

I'm sure you cant drive a Hilux around some of the more dangerous parts of the republic of CPT,
would get stolen and chopped up before you can say , "ek se"

Luckily I grew up and went to school with people without front teeth, so im mostly OK. but yeah. i do stay out of certain areas and roads. So do my friend's companies. So much so that they do crazy alternate routes. But generally, the city, the burbs. no issue
