After playing on a couple of private servers for almost a month or so, I'm finally seeing the light! I have nothing against them, it's just that personally I'm getting fed-up with doing a quest that's like 5 chains and the last damn one is bugged! Only 50 ppl online (No economy what-so-ever) or spells don't work etc...

So I wanna do the real thing :)

Just a couple of noob questions:

1. Do I need the WOTLK expansion right away? I know I can't go there right away, but does it add extra features like spells?

2. Best ISP to use? How much Int. bandwidth do I need?

3. Any decent servers with low pings?

Thanks in advance :)

i wish i had an income, i played on official a little while pre-tbc, but now i can't afford it anymore :(
hehe
soon i will be back

only expansion ul need is burning crusade (that is if u wanna be a belf/dreanei go to the new starting places or level ur prof as a jewelcrafter) otherwise u could just buy it as you need em E.G when u wanna level from 60-70 buy BC and 70-80 buy WOTLK

Yay! I keep telling my friends the same thing that play on private servers.

Nope. However as someone else said, you would need TBC if you want to roll a Blood Elf or a Space Cow :D

Depends how long you play for... On average I use about 100 megs a day. Also go for unshaped adsl if you can. It lowers the latency drastically

3. Any decent servers with low pings?

They all the same really. However roll on Horde, Twilight's Hammer, there are a LOT of South Africans on there.

@ OP, there are alliance players as well. Not everyone plays horde  Ask around depending on which server type your keen on joining

Yeah but we all know alliance are a bunch of pansies and everyone who plays alliance deserves to be camped continously (sp)

Back on track, as stated get the classic and tbc for now. On the Horde side, I would go with Twilights Hammer for SA players. There are a few of us on Spinebreaker as well.

Why are people still recommending Twilights Hammer? Is the server not closed yet for new players, and having a wait list to enter the game of over 5 mins avg?

All I'm hearing is: "Im scared of rolling alliance, because I enjoy freeloading honor & badges on battlegrounds" :p

Either way ... the only real way of playing WoW is on a PvP server. I just battle to imagine how it would be to get ganked on PvE...

hordie "Hi there."
Alliance lowbie in ganklethorn vale "Good day."
hordie "Would you be interested in being ganked today?"
Alliance lowbie "No thanks."
hordie "Oh come on... it'll be fun!"
Alliance lowbie "No."
hordie "i'll even let you take the 1st shot!"
Alliance lowbie "...but you're a rogue. If you get hit 1st you're dead."
hordie "oh, right. I see your point."
...
hordie "so are we going to do this or what?"
Alliance lowbie" no!"
hordie "ok :( "
Alliance lowbie "Have a nice day now."
hordie "and to you, sir."

I wouldn't roll Twilights Hammer...its over populated and the wait times are annoying =/

Go for a medium populated server, like Dentarg (plenty Saffers there :) )

What do you mean apparently not? from the page you linked

Guys,

I've played on Stormrage (US) and then decided to move to Twilight's Hammer (EU).

I didn't realise to many guys will be playing at the same time (causing Serious Server Queues).

Sitting in position 300+ to login is not fun.

I've then decided to move to: Vek'nilash (Free Character Transfer).

I urge all other South Africans to move / roll a toon on Vek'nilash.

See post:

Take care and see you online.

Cheers
Crowdcontrol (Vek'nilash)

aka Palatine / ex Paladinslick (Stormrage)

Clearly states that Twilight's Hammer have ridiculous long wait times...

Sigh, clearly aggro we are today ...

And on the flip side, Kuga posted ... The Q's on Twilights Hammer have all disappeared.. So the SA contingency on there should still grow..

Oh look at me, look at me. I am going to roll a Night Elf Hunter and name him Legolas or some variant of it.. He is so beautiful with his long flowing white hair...

'Nuff said.

The Q's on TH WERE long due to Wrath being launched. I did post on that forum saying the Q's have disappeared.

No aggro at all ;) just confused, but if the Q's have dissipated, I guess it is fair to start there. (granted that you can get some help from others!)

As opposed to rolling a gay elf ? And run around throwing your hear backwards like a drag queen the whole day ;)

Yeah but that was before TBC was released..

Sure you have a better comeback than that ;)

I play both sides though, but what faction you choose is all up to you. There are more or less equal number of horde and alliance South Africans out there. The horde players just seems to be a bit move vocal ;)

I only quoted TH as I used to play there and there were plenty of SA players. Always nice to play with some fellow countrymen.

As to horde or alliance, I'd roll whatever tickles your fancy. I'll level my gnome lock someday! :o
