Former ANC MP murdered near his farm

Johannesburg - Former ANC MP David Dlali has been found murdered near his farm in Matatiele in the Eastern Cape, the party said on Monday.

Dlali was found dead on Monday morning, spokesperson for the Chief Whip's office, Moloto Mothapo, said in a statement.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of such a hardworking and committed servant of the people through a senseless killing."

Dlali served as a Member of Parliament representing Gugulethu between 2001 and 2009, before joining the ministry of women, children and people with disabilities as special adviser to Minister Lulu Xingwana.

"As an ANC MP in the National Assembly, he participated in various portfolio committees such as provincial and local government, minerals and energy and defence," Mothapo said.

Dlali was also a former underground operative of the African National Congress's armed wing Umkhonto we Sizwe.

Born on 23 January 23 1960, in Mount Frere, he served in various Western Cape provincial structures, including as a member of the provincial executive committee and chairperson of the Dullah Omar region.

"The law enforcement agencies must indeed leave no stone unturned to ensure that perpetrators of this heinous deed are caught and face the full wrath of the law," Mathapo said.

He extended the party's condolences to Dlali's family.

Just curious, how did the fella deserve to die in such vile circumstances. Not sure I understand your line if thinking

Our law enforcement officials are not doing enough to ensure safety of our farmers.
They clearly should do more about increasing security in the rural areas. The suburbians aren't the only ones that pay taxes.
