I refer you to Table 90: 'Indices of the volume of agricultural production (calendar year)'. Looking at the 'Total' and 'Food Production' columns, I see a steady rise.

Next, I refer you to Table 84: 'Value of imports and exports – total and for agriculture'. Looking at both 'Totals' of 'Imports' and 'Exports', I see a steady rise in both.

Am I doing it wrong?

My next question is this. You seem to be defending the suggestions of steady decline and doom & gloom. Please show where the doom & gloom is. Bearing in mind Farming accounts for 2% of SA's GDP.

If you consider (Table 84) 2010 we exported 25% more then we imported, in 2011 this drops to 11.5%. I am unsure how you see a drop as a rise. You need to consider the percentages of the totals.

Table 90 shows minimal growth in production and yet we are importing more and exporting more.

Anyway this is only one of the million things happening at the moment that show a decline in SA. Doom and Gloom is not going to happen yet, but it will happen in a few years.

Just read the comment by Hoekachaka, those are the clowns that want to send us into a "golden age" Zimbabwe style. I wonder if any of them ever had to eat bark and dirt to survive?

Please admit the fact that you think it was justified as he was an ex-ANC member though. That was clearly implied by your first post, nothing racist but nothing respectful either.

And FFS it's reap what you sow not saw.

Table 90, between 1994 and 2011, Field crops have grown 3.5 times, Horticulture grown 4 times, Animal production grown 3 times, with a Combined index of about 3.5 times overall. No doom and gloom there.

Table 84, there have been drops in the past, 2007 drops to less than 5%, 2006 around 12%. Yet things have still gotten better, we're BRICSA, strong developing economy, lots of business potential, more people wanting to move to SA.

You may have reasons for your seeing of writing on the wall, but agriculture certainly isn't one of them, especially since it accounts for 2% of our GDP. As terrible as farm murders are, there is no genocide.

Hoekachaka's comment is fine, no doom & gloom there. It's only you who automatically views it as a threat, due to what you're led to believe by media, Current Affairs, News24, etc. They're just riling you up, nitpicking, sensationalist. The ANC are doing very little for the people that threaten SA's future the most (the poor in numbers) and have indeed introduced corruption and ill governance, you cannot simply shoot down the ANCYL for wanting to speed things up for the poor. Youth are radical, very open to abuse by the media.

Tx for fixing the spelling. My cell has a rather tiny keypad. People should read the very first word of the first sentence aloud. It might help. Next time I will bold it. First and foremost I regard him as a victim of Crime. The second expression was more of a afterthought directed towards the government in general. Now I realize, the expression can be twisted either way (by gov. supporters who try to steer away from the real issue at hand.)

It boils down to understanding the feelings of our (mostly) poor black countrymen as well as that having material wealth as a minority can potentially mean nothing when looking at sheer numbers of men without wealth. The understanding that South Africa's safety for all within it will only be truly safe only through education and economic transformation. The understanding of BEE. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Much transformation relies on sharing what we've (whites) benefited from for centuries, and suggesting solutions instead of constantly criticising the ANC (and blacks) without providing solutions or being part of the solution, which to a large extent lies in our hands. We need to bolster our image among poor blacks to show that we care and want them to have better lives, maybe then they will identify with anotehr political party (you can't blame them). We need to remind ourselves that the Nats didn't exactly leave the country with an easy job of reconcialition and balancing and governance of a volatile society. Things have improved for the most part since 94 if you're an educated, desirable and employable person. There are tenfold more poor with basic human rights. There is a lot less racism. Being able to think with an empathetic open mind allows me to see through the doom & gloom drums that have been beaten to death for years on MyBb CA.

I would be quite happy to go back and analyse your TV thread once again, and back up all my actions from them with facts, which will paint an understood picture rather than the one you misunderstand.

Perhaps being calm and objective means not having chips on shoulders, and engaging in such a way, regardless of MyBb CA differences. :rolleyes: And not using them to derail unrelated threads. :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
