So Im going overseas for a bit, and there is NO way Im gonna cope without a laptop..

I need something that is not going to be a donkey, but I cant afford a ferrari either!

Im thinking my price range is gonna be between R12k to max R15k (incl VAT)

Problem is Im gonna need something with a bit of GFX power... My main rig has a 4870 so that is what Im used to. Obviously Im not going to get near that (and dont expect to) but I would like something decent.

Problem is I have NO CLUE about GFX chipsets on laptops... like what they are equal to in desktop language.

Im thinking maybe one of these?

Im not a HP fan, and not too fond of Lenovo either...

your help would be appreciated! thanks

What are you going to use the laptop for?
How long is 'a bit'?
Are you gonna be on holiday/traveling or for work?

skype, google chat, browsing

watching movies/tv series

and some light gaming, guild wars, company of heroes... thats why GFX is so important. I was looking at the xps 13 but the GFX is not to my liking... its a bit too weak. Doesnt make sense to get this when I can get better GFX with a bigger screen!

Ill be on holiday, for up to two months... no work, play only! :D

I would just get a light netbook with good battery life.

Forget about gaming as you have an oppertunity to do/experience so many other things. Game when you get back and use the money you saved towards your holiday.

I say take the msi with the gt130m. I did some checking and it's on the level of the desktop 9600gt. I don't think you'll find better than that. It's much much better than the 3650.
