I don't know anything about Asus' after sale service, but I do know that Dell's 3 year next day onsite warranty is awesome and definitely worth having. Also, the chance of anything going wrong with the Dell is very small, and if it does, it's sorted out the next business day.

USB 3.0 is still very new, but if you have the option of it then definitely go for it as more and more new devices are going to be USB 3.0

mmm... both have low rez displays, the Dell has 4gb RAM which is better, and Optimus graphics which should provide better battery life. The 3 year warranty also makes me favour the Dell.

Sadly most laptops these days have that res and ratio display, they are just horrible IMO.

+1 to Dell Service.

My 3.5 year old laptop has had pretty much everything replaced over the last few years (mobo + gfx card, HDD, keyboard and display - I have the 4yr onsite with complete care package which covers the display and hinges etc). Dell support are out the next working day early in the morning onsite at my office every time, and they bring the replacement parts with. I loose at most a few hours work time (time taken from the previous day when the call was logged until 8am ish when they arrive). No need to waste time taking the machine anywhere.

I doubt very much if I will every buy another brand.

Full HD too. That's an awesome machine. DO IT!!! For the extra R2k I should have gone with that too... Damn it!!!! Kayvee warned against this... I must learn to listen and be pacient!!!!

You couldn't wait, hey? :) I won't rub it in though.

CraZee, there will be more options coming along soon, like in the next month or two, so all depends how urgently you need it.

Buying Dell is worth it just for that! My friends were looking for a laptop recently and had several options, one or two were Dells with a 3yr warranty. I advised them to get the Dell simply based on that, some of the laptops had slightly better specs but for their use the Dell was more than enough.

I wish other manufacturers like HP, Toshiba & Lenovo would offer the same service locally.

Looks like I'm going with the ASUS SB model and will probably feel like sandmanm34 in a few weeks.
But when the itch is there, there is no turning back.
Wish I was more like kayvee and able to wait
