Quite a powerful Notebook with a really really crappy resolution and crappy hard drive.

Well, at that price point it's hard to find a laptop with a higher resolution. You can always make that laptop worthwhile by replacing that drive with an SSD. I hate the fact that they have such a nice GFX card with such a crappy screen resolution.

Are you limited to 10k?
What is the primary use for it?
If it is for office use only then I will definitely get another monitor with it.

I can't see myself working with such a low res screen.

Worth it? depends on what it is going to be used for.

Office, e-mails, the odd Caddie drawing, youtube.

nothing to serious

any other lappies worth looking at then ?

lets say max price R 12k

thanks for the inputs so far

Well if that's what you are going to use it for then great, just make sure you buy a decent monitor to go with it.

Trade GeForce option for better resolution screen. 1080p is a minimum for the display of this size.
As you speak about CAD drawings, you will see difference. If you stay with current, you would have to buy two hi-res monitors instead of one.

Definitely not worth it. Get a better one with at least GTX965.

I agree with you if you are saying the 965 > 950. However, there is one helluva price difference? If you can find a laptop with a 965M GPU at 12k, please tell me where you find it, so I can buy it :P

Sure , go to Carbonite. Pretty sure you can find something there.
