Another pay-TV licence submission implodes

I think Max Tv today might have a good chance, that is if Icasa decides not to only licence the usual suspects.

They have sound financial backing and a good business plan.
 
What about a dedicated brown channel?

Must everything in this country be about black or white??? What about a dedicated brown channel if you will?

But what can you expect form a BEE company? Amatuer business plan if you ask me...

Btw. What would classify as "black entertainment"??
This would exclude white people..again..well done for shooting holes in their silly little propaganda channel. Would have been a secong sabc 1 if you ask me.

Companies have to realise that we are competing internationaly, with international standards (2010) in mind. They must stop their pitiful offerings..who would watch an Aids channel??? What the hell would you put on it? People are dying while a government is refusing them anti-retrovirals and you sir want to go and make a channel dedicated to this??

Obvious wind-up. It does not take a rocket scientist to know that catering for black people will be vital for survival...whether you sell beauty products or pay tv- the sheer numbers don't lie.

This is actually quite sad news. BET have been trying for a license for a long time. They even set up shop in Botswana in an attempt to bypass Multichoice's ridiculous requirements for broadcasting on their bouquet. It's a pity they didn't get their ducks in a row.

Re the AIDS channel: I agree with antowan. However, there should be AIDS programming embedded in popular channels. SA has one of the highest infection rates in the world - and it's not declining despite current efforts to curb the pandemic.
 
I don't think that Pay TV subscribers are the ones they should be targeting for an education on HIV/AIDS. That's just retarded logic. Anyone who can afford Pay TV in this country sure as hell would have been able to afford some form of general education.

It's the masses they need to target. Waive the TV license fee (or at least let TV license fees be payable to ICASA instead) and broadcast all forms of AIDS programs on SABC, free of charge, to people who AIDS is more likely to affect.

instead of just catering to ethnic group why not to all? having a proper business plan in place is a very good idea too, maybe they just wanted to make a quick buck like so many other ,you know who, companies.
