The lightning this afternoon at JHB fried another PSU of our PC (I think it's the PSU dead). My dad heard the thunders, and switch off the PCs at home and unplugged the power cord. And now when we try to switch one of them on, the power LED just flash for a second and then no response (Googled and PSU dead). The odd thing is that the PC was working when he switched it off and all power cords leads to that PC and switch were disconnected physically........Will swap the PSU tomorrow morning and see. That PC was connected to a UPS and Surge protector.

i've just gone through my 2nd ADSL router in 4 months today too. got a surge protector on the power, but not on the phone line. What can I do to protect surges on the phone line? *sigh* all I wanna do is play TF2.

Get one of those surge protector with phoneline protection. It saved one of our fax machine, but not the other one......lost 2 PC and 1 cordless phone, 1 fax machine early January....All protected by surge protectors. That's why we decide to disconnect physically, but still not good enought?

On my third ADSL router in 6 months; it doesn't help if the storm happens when you are not home to physically unplug stuff. The storms always seem to hit when I'm not home and last time it also took out one of the dual gigabyte lan ports on my mobo

*Sigh* must remember to get up earlier to unplug everything...
