Hey guys

I turned on my pc today and when the screen came on, i found a shadow on my screen. After an inspection, my guess is that there is an ant stuck between the panel and the backlight. If you think thats weird, its happened before but the last time they got out, now Im afraid its dead and stuck there.

Is there any way to get this little bugger out and will it cause any permenant damage?

Thanks

Try some compressed air maybe?

Or if you can open it up carfeully (that would be the extreme case though) :p

Try shake/tap the thing gently as well..

Thanks for the quick response

Id rather refrain from opening, only had it for 6 months.
Will try some of the other methods.

Sometimes 1 ant is a precursor to a whole lot more! Look around and if you see a few wandering around aimlessly have a good look to see that there isn't a nest nearby. They seem to like electric sockets - I've had nests in a wall plug socket more than once!

lol - now we know where those dead ants (I mean pixels) come from! Reminds me of an avatar I saw a while ago with a little bug that keeps moving around - made me try and wipe it off my screen!

Didn't find any ant fortress, but this is the second time Ive had an ant in my screen

my nomination for funniest thread of the month :D
Do I get a prize if I win, maybe a can of ant repellent

The compressed air idea was a good one. Anyways, this thread is the funniest I've read in a while lol thanks haha.

You should open paint, make it fullscreen. Paint bucket the whole thing black and then draw a white path to the end of the monitor. Hopefully ants are attracted to brightness :P

Posted an image although its not very clear, you can see a small spot. Up close this gets very annoying when the screen goes white
