Hi Guys

Thanks for reading, I need a repair on my Antec High Current Pro 850w power supply. It was bought around 2011-2012 and has a 5 year warranty but I cant find the receipt though I still have the box it came in. As you may imagine I'm a bit distraught by it all and I'm desperately looking for a solution that won't see me fork out an additional R3000 for a replacement.

My question thus is, does anyone know of a local (Cape Town) company that does repairs on PC power supplies? It's not completely dead but it wont allow my PC to boot. All I get when I try to power on is a click and it just lights up and goes off but there is still power to the board as the LED on the board stays on. PC works fine with another PSU.

Thanks in advance for all responses.

Did you pay for it with a credit card?

The CC statement entry should be proof enough that you did in fact buy it at a specific date.
The merchant will be able to pick up everything from there, for example the invoice number.

Rectron and some other companies will service your stuff without copy of invoice. They will scan serial number and determine whether is was bought from them.

However if you need to repair it yourself, check visually for bulged capacitors first.

+1 This.

Many other suppliers also do.

It looks like Esquire are distributes of Antec, you dont need proof of payment because it came from them initially.

PS: A PSU isnt a serviceable part, well it is but you shouldnt.

If the PSU was bought in 2011 or early 2012 if was definitely not bought from us it might have been purchased from the previous Antec distributor who also has a branch in Western Cape.

We only took distribution end of December 2012 with our first shipments arriving early 2013 , These units can repaired (just depends on what is wrong with it) , if you want send it to our Cape Town branch who will send it to our Midrand Office as we might still have some spares to repair these units and it won’t cost a cent to repair just the cost to get it to the branch and collect.

Who did you buy it from?
Did you buy it with a credit card or eft?

wow seriously guys thanks for all the positive responses!

I am relatively certain it was purchased around August of 2011. I have an image on my PC with it still wrapped in its plastic cover that's dated 29 August 2011.

I wish I had thought of credit card statements! I still have those on my PC in my mailbox. I had an opportunity to check it last night but now I don't have a PSU to check it again. :/

@Esquire, could you maybe tell me who was the distributor prior to Esquire taking over as following your statement I'm no longer so sure it was you based on my statement above. I know it was a special from a dealer in the Montague Gardens area. Sincere apologies for the confusion.

Sent you a PM

I'd just like to say a massive THANK YOU to Corex and specifically Colin who have graciously agreed to intercede on my behalf with Antec and managed to get confirmation to swap out my PSU under warranty. I have received my replacement PSU last week Friday and it's been running swimmingly since then. I cannot stress enough the willingness and professionalism displayed by Colin in his dealings with me. A true asset to the company! This world needs more people like him.

I am a happy future customer!
