I know it's mywireless ... but since I am a mywireless user, and the question falls in the range of this stuff ...
I have a wireless access point. I wanted to extend the antenna (it's against the box) about 1 meter so that I can put box under roof, rather than outside with the bird droppings. But poynting could only offer me a 8dbi gain antenna, with 1meter extension, which is more than I asked for. And that's fine.
Now my question about this, With a 8dbi gain antenna, am I correct that it wont make a difference, unless the client connections also has a gain antenna?
Currently the only wireless connection is barely in range, using a usb wireless card. Now If I have this antenna, it still wont make the communication better, because the client still has a problem sending data to the access point? Is this correct? Or does this magical gain antenna, cause the access point to pick up signals better too?
Any input?
Thanx
