Thing is this: you can run the free home editions of software commercially, but it will be a nightmare trying to keep them updated and configured. Not to mention lots of wasted bandwidth as each pc updates. That is why centrally managed AV is so much better. Also, if you ever get software audited, things will not look good.

Norton used to interfere to much with Windows DLL'd etc in the past. By cleaned I mean many of these install files and remnants remained and interfered with many new Installs, hardware and software. Look at incompatibility lists and Norton used to be on top of the list! Therefore there was special third party cleaners just for Norton remains.
If you are happy fine, Me once burned twice shy!

I've only been on Norton's Anti-Virus back since 2009, so I can't comment on any of their past doings. Like you said, "used to be." I haven't had any problems with new installations of hardware or software, but I'm still for MSE as a home based solution.

and you think your system is "cleaned"? Check again, there are special Norton remover tools as they interfere with everything. maybe the latest is different as I gave up on them YEARS ago and never looked back. All I ever use of them is 2003 "ghost" cloning (The dos version).

Exactly this has been my experience too...definitely not easy to remove.
