Hi

I'm looking for a decent free antivirus. Any recommendations?
FileHippo.com lists Avast and AVG. Are these any good?

Regards,
L

I am a very big fan of avast. If you do internet banking with absa you can get Trend Micro PC-Cilin licenses.

I use the free Microsoft AV security centre on my PC and it works fine - they also don't want to keep reminding me to upgrade to the paid version etc...

I switched from Absa's Trend Micro to Avast about two years ago (the former was killing the performance on my PC) and never looked back.

I've read glowing reviews of MS Security Essentials, but haven't used it...

Can be a very resource intensive app, but works very well.

I have found it to be the least resource intensive free-antivirus thus far... the only time it seems to require resources is when it applies an update or scans a large .rar or.zip archive...

Big NO to Trend! It fails horribly in all the latest 3rd Party tests. Microsoft Security Essentials is free and scores pretty high...
