Kaspersky anti-virus

I have a few queries on this particular AV.
I’ve been an avid user of this product for quite some time (8 years plus, if not more), however I’ve noticed on more than one occasion some erratic behaviour/actions on my pc after expiry date.

What behaviour and actions you ask? - Some simple things like virus warnings, slow sluggish pc, some weird data flow (thanks to wireshark) simply slowing things down on my pc's. Upon entering a new code all of these symptoms seems to disappear, as if there was no problem before… rather strange behaviour from this type of software I would say.

I have access to different machines with different AV programs. When I got these messages pertaining to virus warnings etc., I made a point of running scans using the machines available to me with completely different AV programs. The end result showing no threats of any kind. YET…. Again upon entering a new code I purchased from Kaspersky all symptoms and problems explained above would simply disappear.

Now I am in no way throwing any accusations around, but these observations and findings are somewhat concerning.

Any thoughts?

uninstall it the next time it expires before entering a new code and see if the bizarre behavior continues..

Done - Used the app recomended from Kaserperksy. Solved most of the erratic bahaviour. Suspect that some instances of the AV left on the pc. Scanned the drive on two different machines with different software, no virus or malware present.
This points towards the AV itself..... My opinion

posted this on Kaspersky forums, reply I got was somewhat as expected.....

My Kaspersky will expire in +- 150 days

What other alternatives are there for consideration? Eset perhaps?

I've been using Eset for years with zero issues. Not the cheapest but it works well.

Common sense + Defender built into Windows + Malwarebytes

I used this since I got Win10 for my desktop last year. I have Panda (read it's decent on a few tech websites) + Malwarebytes on a Win8.1 laptop but I'm going to go up to Win 10 when I'm less lazy :p

TBF, the only times I needed an anti-virus were when I still shared a communal PC and when I was at uni and someone that was in a group project with me inserted his filthy USB stick in my laptop. All his songs were .exe :crylaugh: The fact that he still downloaded porn didn't help him much
